Looks like a Dodge M-37 3/4 ton utility truck. Introduced
1951, so this could be a Korean War era photo.

Never heard of this New Zealand make of camper, "Acquires," photographed
at the beach (presumably on the big NORTH island?) in the early '40s.

the tags look awfully American to me. Counties in the U.S. used to order "highway cars" in the 1950s-early 1960s for their maintenance crews. these were normally the cheapest Ford and Chevy tudor sedans fitted with a small pick-up box in the trunk at the factory. Given that the road in the pic needs a tiny bit of repair I'd wager you're looking at a highway car.

No date or location with this pic of Thelma's rip-roarin, "Dash-Inn." :D But appears to be
out West. Maybe a HAMB bike nut can at least narrow down the date from the cop's
    motorcycle?

just curious - does anyone have a copy of the October 1961 "Hot Rod" handy? supposedly there's a feature in it on a four-door '31 Model A owned by a Noel Devito that a buddy of mine swears looks just like Danny Devito!

  18. That's what I meant, got my older and newer words mixed up - we figured it couldn't have been older than 1938 judging by the cars in the film. Not sure why there isn't sound (surely they had that technology even in the highway department).

Those buses probably have 50 hp!
    1500 or 1600 cc engine?
One looks like it's drifting a bit?

1100-1500 in those vintage vans. 1600 was after the style change. They don't "drift". The swing axles lift and tuck the tires inward as a result of being under max power. Foot on the floor is the common driving position IIRC :)

The 1963 model year introduced the 1500 engine – 1,493 cc (91.1 cu in) as standard equipment to the US market (Wikpedia).

Yes the swing axles and reduction gears would cause the inside wheel to tuck inward like in the picture.

I had a 1970 bus (with full IRS and 1600cc?) and it actually handled pretty well if you could get it up to speed but headwinds and hills took care of that.

those New Era chips were promoted as healthy food... I guess a pound of those and a gallon of beer daily

  30. You folks are tripping me down memory lane. I remember New Era Chips, Vitalis, Butch (for flat-tops) and Brylcreem...

Now for some trivia - who remembers "the flavor deputy ...Slim Chiply..."? Yes siree, they're pips!

And what about Wildroot? I still have a bottle of this stuff someplace - but nowhere - or is that no hair? - left to apply it
