I meant the car behind the Comet looks to be a Dodge! June585;the Blue 65 Comet is yours? I just realized the picture of the 65 Comet is from Mission Raceway in B.C.,Canada!! ROY.

Roy- Somewhere out on that track in Bakerfield is a very long 5/16th's bolt that was most likely the reason why I pitched the alt. belt..... DOH!!!!!!

Dale;that was what the safety guys were picking up off of the track!! The people selling that 65 Comet sedan have been smoking some funny smelling stuff!!That is NOT a 271 horse 289,it is not the same body as the factory racecars, plus all the responders to the ad are lost.It amazes me how uninformed people can be about Comets, yet make unfounded comments! ROY.

I guess so! Engine builder Ben Alameda talked with me last night, he had just picked up my re-ground camshaft. Before being sized down, it measured a whopping .788 lift!!! Its a bit smaller ,now... :)

Its Funny as you can see in the above pits shot the Holeshot, ex Stripteaser 4 is in the background. The petrie car and the holeshot are two of the four 67 comets Known to exhist. Cool to see them at the same event back in the day

I first saw the Stripteaser-Holeshot sitting on jack stands having the plumbing installed at the Gainsville Speed Shop in Gainsville, GA. Frame and running gear only, no body or wheels/tires at the time. Howard Neal was there when we went by. We didn't understand then that we were witnessing a part of history!

Had a quick afternoon drag race session at Irwindale today. They are filming the new series ""ONE AND DONE"". On the first and third Thursday of the month, Irwindale opens at noon, with racing at 2:00 p.m. I now realize why. For good reason. When they stop the whole track to film segments for the show, you have to sit, wait, and be silent..... Still, you could make four or five runs before the witching hour in the early evening when all the ricers and wannabees show up and make the place hard to move around in.

Friend and fellow racer Larry Knapp came all the way down to run his Cammer-powered fastback Mustang. His ""Stampede"" car is incredible to those who have never seen it. It has so many early Stroppe, and Hollman/Moody parts, its unreal...Lexan window frames the like of which I have never ever seen.
Well- the track seemed fit to not let him run do to a ""minor"" technical glitch. What a letdown. It would have made the pass of the night.....

They actually seem to prep the track better than the off-days... At one time, they stopped, went down the track, turned on these little Go-Pro cameras at different points along the track. My friend, John MacBryan, was the next in line with his stroked Windsor '64 Fairlane, they proceeded to spray down his lane around the line!! He got a GOOD launch!! Who knew why. They must have liked his car!

My Comet ran well in the Irwindale air, a 7.54 @91, compared to Famoso's 7.36 @92. Most tell me you are always about 2/10's off between the two. Now, we start the conversion over to the new powerplant... Alot of changes....

Dale,I agree with Roy.You need to take a look at your torque multiplication ratios. To do so all the info you need are the trans ratios in each gear, the rear end gear and RPM desired. There is an equation that you can put this info into and you can play with it for hours putting different ratios in.The BW T-10B 4 speed with a 4.71 gear works great for my application with the 289 at 7,200.Keep us posted about the new engine and combination in the Rocket!

I'm using a 9 inch rearend with 31 spline axles and a Detroit Locker.A/FX Dave recommends bigger spline aftermarket axles. He use to break the 31s in his B/FX Comet.

Roy,I like your intuition about the Dana 60..but I bet Dale has some kind of killer Ford 9 inch up his sleeve...I hope he uses either Dutchman or Moser axles...
