This one ran in the Flint Mi. area in the 60's with a screaming SBC. I got it some years ago and dropped a 500 Caddy in for a low budget racer. Sold it before the nostalgia craze hit.

The pic in the avatar is of the 55 that my son and i built 4 or 5 years back. It has a solid roller 358 and t10 4 speed. Ladder bars, 9" ford, 389 gears and piecrusts(fun to drive, very quick). I have a straight axle 55 that i race with a gearjammer group,6.70s 1/8th mi , the most fun you can have with your clothes on

Here are some pictures of my '55 in it's current condition. It's nearly roadworthy again. I was able to finish the trans this afternoon.

That's one C:cool:;)L '55! Sure would be nice if it's still around!!

  26. I've often wondered if this could be Bruce Cox's "Rainbow Warrior" before the House of Colors rainbow paint job. This car has different front suspension too, but maybe it an early iteration of the car. What do you think Vic, Kevin?

Ric, I spoke to a guy who was selling it years ago before Bruce bought it and he told me that the Rainbow Warrior was built for a handicapped guy in a wheelchair. That's why the steering column would swivel to allow access for the wheelchair. The picture looks to me like it was purpose built for the driver to be in the backseat... Just MHO.:p Vic

My project is a 56 Chevy 4 dr. station wagon. The "door machine" as an old buddy has named it is coming along just fine. So far I have fabricated motor mounts, fenderwell headers, crossmember, clutch linkage, narrowed a 9" Ford rear end and fabricated a 4 link suspension with coilover shocks. Disc brakes on all 4 corners. I'll try to post some pix.

Attached are a few pix of Bruce and I at Eagle Field, just screwing around... Notice in the enlarged photo where Bruce's seat is located -the Ground Pounder driver's head is almost out the rear window. The rear fenderwell is radically cut compared to the Rainbow Warrior too. Also where the headers exit the body, Bruce's engine isn't set back as far. I'd venture to say that these are two different cars.
