Mia culpa if this was posted. Found it interesting. http://www.stromberg-97.com/carburetion/stromberg97barn_find.asp Bob
"and if you order today, we will include a stale gas air freshener" but wait....for the real authentic look we have included a small leak in the bowl gasket, with a proper stain"
Well, I guess there is a market for them. As much as I love the shiny new look of the new ones, they would look sort of out of place on a historic car such as the Ed Iskenderian roadster. They will hopefully get that old worn look in time however- one hopes. -H.R.D.-
Yes, they would look more accurate if the linkages were not blasted. Goodness me, now we are getting silly. -H.R.D.-
At least they aren't asking for more money because of the process! Check out the fender guitar relic series some time, they actually ask for more money because they made the guitar look ****py! Good on Stromberg-97 for not following suit!
Hmmm. I was feeling bad cause even though I've put kits in mine they look ****py with fuel stains. So this is a good thing??? Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
That is so **** I cant even fathom it. its not a bad idea..but the execution is so lazy and half ****d. just looks like its been thrown in a sandblaster whole, nothing like what time does to a carb. embarr***ing.
For an extra $50, they'll dial in a carrier pigeon to fly out to your shipping address and **** on the car. Neat product, but at $449, out of my budget. I MUST be getting old. $449 used to get all the machine work including heads on my engines done including bearings, rings, full Fel-Pro gasket set, etc...sigh! Imagine the guy buying 8 of them for his 8x Drag Star intake?
What? No stripped screws or screws with vise grip marks? I'm wondering if they at least include a bit of gl*** bead in the bowls from the blasting process!
I read a story a few years back where a guy wanted his Corvette restored so it looked like it had 30,000 miles on it. The restorer came up with a good solution. Restore it like new, then drive it 30,000 miles. Voila! No "fauxtina" there.
If any body out there wants real pantina on these babies, giv'em to me. I live in Michigan. Five days out in the snow, sleet, rain, hail, and on the salted roads otta give it some REAL pantina. Only $50.00 per part (free return shipping). 10 days, if you would like the throttle plates rusted closed w/seized throttle shaft for $75.00. All of the above with a small leak in the bowl gasket for $100.00 even, add $10.00 for the stain.
