Held every second year in a different location, this year it was close to home at Parklands Complex at Southport on the Gold Coast of Queensland. The event started on Thursday and went through to Easter Monday.

Only an hours drive for us but there were many entrants from all over Australia.Entrants from New South Wales,Victoria,South Australia and many from Western Australia which is a 4000km haul.

The park has large camping areas which were filled up while many entrants stayed at local Caravan parks or Motels(like we did) which were in very close proximity to the event.

On Wednesday I went down with the Hudson to put it in the static display with a dozen other beautiful cars. Then Thursday we headed off in the roadster as my entrants car.

Other than the terrible weather that hit just before presentations and forced the organizers to implement plan B for the prize giving it was a perfect weekend.Plenty of great cars, girls, traders etc to satisfy everyone.

Now time to start doing the pictures. There are over 300 so be patient.
There is a special surprise at the end(for me anyway) so you have to go wait until I finish my input to see.

This is the second time the event was held here(2005 previously).Parklands has been used for many other events including sporting,it also has a horse trotting track and many display halls.sadly however it is being converted to accommodation facilities for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2016 that is being held on the Gold Coast.

Now more pictures. My Hudson is second down on the left. The yellow Woody is a 1948 Holden based phantom car. Holden NEVER made a Woody. The Corvair ramp truck is the only one in Australia and one of only a few even in the USA.The gold pickup truck is Ridler Award quality.

The Thursday and Friday were Entrants only and then Saturday and Sunday it was opened to the public. Many of the cars assembled in the in field on the trotting track for display and to be judged.

I just realised who you are.Saw the Vauxhall there with plenty of admirers around.Tried to get John Cook to come down just for a look and he didn't show.He was putting the 46 convertible back together after the Valla mishap.

From the plates it looks to be Victorian. (Seen in the COE topic).

Sorry I should have added thanks for all the photos. I see a few from Castlemaine I did not know had gone to the event.

  29. What an outstanding contribution! Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to put this package together. Almost as good as being there. The Australian hotrod community seems to be in a healthy situation. This is why I like the HAMB so much: folks sharing their experiences.
    -Peter.
