Ive got a 62 mer monterey and about to drop her. A fellow hamber said 90 aerostar springs would work and bring it down 2in. Can anyone second that let alone done this?

  2. Just did mine and it dropped it nicely.
Not sure exactly how much since the front sheet metal is still off.
I also did disk so that accounts for some too.

I belong to the 52-56 Ford Owner's Social Group and a lot of fellas have used the Aerostar springs (including myself) and are happy with them. Around $80 at most parts stores. Search Aerostar springs for other threads- as far as I know they only work on 50-59 Ford family.

ALL Aerostars use the same part number for the front springs.

    its not just 1990

got mine at rock auto, but not sure if they will work on yours. cross reference your springs to a 51-59 ,i know they work on those years!

Just installed 3 inch lowering blocks in rear and cut 2 coils up front.

This chart compares several springs under the same load and leverage, so it compares the spring only. The load is from the Monterrey spring load spec.

I searched for other springs that would lower the car. They are moog numbers.
Also the CC850 is a Variable Rate springs with some close wound coils that bind and raise the rate to about 850.

I used Aerostar springs in a shoebox but I don't think they'll work in a '62. That moog chart is pretty helpful though that's pretty cool...

Looks like the S-10 spring would be a better choice. The Aerostar spring will be to much drop, the tires will be rubbing the fenders when turning.

The 5642 would give you a 3 inch drop but keep the same wheel rate. Remember because of leverage the wheel drop (depending on motion ratio), is about twice the height change.

5642 is a common GM spring F and G bodies.

Hey Hoop, Where can I find that spring chart? I don't know what half of that stuff is so, I'd like to have access to the drop down boxes so I can learn what some those specs are referring to. Thanks
