jpnewlin, I really love what you have done to your '63. I have just picked up a '63 Impala and will be referring to yours quite often as far as what to do with it. You really nailed the look!! Excellent job, Sir!!! Pluck
We were able to to get the heater deleted this weekend. Less weight and it really cleans up the engine bay. This is how it looked previously.
It came from Show Cars or DR409 . It is a pricey piece, but it comes with the dash insert as well which would be hard to fabricate. If i was just concerned with the firewall i would either fab one from scratch or adapt a panel from one of the many you see on Ebay, etc..
BUT......at the Meltdown every car you race against looks period correct, with era correct wheels....with a period correct S/S class all your pics in B&W look the part. Just thought I would mention it in case you have not attended.......that's why it is called....REAL vintage drag racing. It turned out fantastic by the way......alot of S/S early 60's Fords always mopping up Chevy's and Pontiac's at the MD....hoping Chevy S/S will come and redeem...
Perfect wheel and tire choice. Myself and four club brothers run towel's tires too. I would love to see it in person at the meltdown. Even if you don't want to run it hard or at all, you get to park in the pits and have the best seat in the house. I know you will regret seeing all the footage in the magazines seeing what you missed. "MELTDOWN DRAGS" July 20, 21 2013 at Byron Dragway Byron Ill. www.meltdowndrags.com
There's a few guys coming up with pro-mod driver Quain Stott from South Carolina. You could probably caravan with them or meet up with the Missouri boys too. "MELTDOWN DRAGS" July 20, 21 2013 at Byron Dragway Byron Ill. www.meltdowndrags.com
