Thanks for the decal. Let me know when you come down for LARS. I'm not sure how, what or where, but I'm thinking of putting something together for the HAMB supporters that weekend. Anybody have any ideas?

  2. Because your car isn't a roadster, you'll be in the parking lot/swap meet area (which is THE place to be, if you ask me). How about we try to rent a couple of spaces next to each other and just have a big BBQ? Folks can bring beverages and food supplies and we can just chow down and B.S?

    Just an idea.....

The BBQ idea is a good one. I think that will work. I'll need help getting everything there. Burgers or Carne Asada? Should they have to wear their E&B shirt to eat?

On a side note, I am finishing little things on the sedan. The new gas caps are non-vented and the car was running out of fuel making it feel like the motor had a miss. I need to drill a hole in the cap and all will be good. I still need to hook up the e-brake. One wheel only. It's more fun that way.

  8. I'm thinking that everybody brings a little something, we'll have plenty of food and beverages. I kind of like the Carne Asada idea. I was thinking about bringing my World Famous 7-Layer Bologna and Lima Bean C***erole, but I think that it might be a little to upscale for you folks:D. It's a joke that goes way back to my early days in aerospace when there was always a potluck list floating around. That "dish" would always get a reaction.

I did a little research about the LARS swapmeet, and found out a few things that are good to know. The spots are a first-come first-served, so if we want to get a bunch of adjacent spots, we need to all meet up and go to the gate on Friday (opens at 10am) together. Maybe we'll hook for some breakfast nearby and get into line about an hour early to get the first choice for some prime spots. I saw nothing about the restriction of food or beverages, which is excellent. You can camp in your spot if you want. There is 24/7 security on the grounds so your parts should be safe.

    Here's the official info: http://www.laroadsters.com/swap_meet.html

I think it would be great to get at about 6 spots (3 across, 2 deep). The spots are 25' wide and 15' deep. The spots are $70 each, and that includes 2 p***es for the weekend. We could have a bunch of hotrods inside along with any parts that folks want to sell. Bring a grille(s), a bunch of EZ-ups, and a lot of coolers. It would be a blast.

Pete is a regular at the swap meet, and he would be a good source of info on what would work best. Maybe we could take up a collection for nitro and he could light off the Old Master!!!

Rick I am in to help pay for the spots. It would be cool to have a spot to park your, mine, Hot Rod - secured so when you came it you would have a known place to go. I do like the BBQ Idea and the T shirt idea . Let me know what you need from me and when you need it.

Great job on the Sedan. I have enjoyed watching the progress and will keep checking in to see what's going on with it.

Thanks for all the offers. That is exactly why the Sedan ended up getting done. A group effort! After the mad thrash of the past few weeks, I went to the Colorado River for a little R & R with the family. My batteries are recharged and I will continue to refine the Sedan over the next few weeks before I start taking it to different events. Over the next few weeks we will also be finalizing the plans for the BBQ. The last time we did the Sedan we had a get together at Pete's shop and served Pizza. That was a lot easier because everyone was local. I want to include as many people as I can therefore the Father's Day event works better for the out of town helpers.

Thanks for the build post - it has been great following the re-construction of the sedan.

See you at the LA Roadster Show, let me know what I can contribute, I'm flying down with a half a dozen hard core Hot Rodders, and we would like to do what we can.
Next year about 20 of us will be driving down for the 50 th Anniversary of the LAR.
    Regards,

    Keith-
    The shirt was shipped yesterday.

I am in a bit of a quandary and maybe you guys can help me decide. I need a few little things to make the Sedan more correct but don't want to bore you with the minutia. I also don't want the thread to be perceived as ego driven so tell me if you want me to continue with the details and if you want me to inform you of the events the Sedan will be taken to. I hope that those of you that have followed the build would like to see it in person. That being said, please let me know of events coming up that you would like to see the Sedan at and I will let you know if I can make it.
    Thanks for all the support!

Absolutely!!! No ego in this deal at all in my opinion. I really believe that you don't know how much the original car touched so many of us back in the day, and how good it is to see it recreated so accurately. Carry on...

    What he said ^^^^^^^^

  21. You have made a very serious effort to be as accurate as possible, and after seeing the car in person, I have to say that you freakin' nailed it! Keep hammering out the details, no matter how small they are. I think you should post up what you're doing, even if if you think we may not be interested. Trust me, if those same details were on the original car, we'll be interested. There are a few "Go To" threads that I follow on the HAMB, and this one is at the top of my list.

Throw out a line if there's some stuff you still need. This build has been sort of a Treasure Hunt, and we're having just as much fun as you are.

I'd like to help out with the LARS deal ... I've got an EZ Up, tubs for drinks, etc. and can chip in on the "consumables".

Thanks for the feedback. One of the small items I have been looking for is the small round plastic ****on that fits in the center of the Vega/Camaro GT steering wheel. All it says is GT. At some point someone subs***uted a little chrome Ford script emblem. It doesn't look bad but it's just not right. These are the "little" things I am referring to.
I'm also leaning towards providing fried chicken and potato salad at LARS because I don't want myself or anyone else spending that much time cooking when we can spend the time "shooting the bull".

Rick, I think keeping this site open and updated is a great idea. It's a good way for all of

us to stay in touch. What day are you thinking about doing the shindig @ LARS?

And oh by the way i have one of those GT ****ons you need...I will get it to you ASAP

Thanks Rick, and keep the posts and updates flowing

Rick.....seems to me one of the ONLY things lacking on this whole deal is for the upholstery to be properly worn in (out?). I am volunteering to do just that, here in the blistering AZ sun.

Rick, looks like Tio Geo beat me to the punch. I have access to a GT ****on but I would have to acquire it from a customer first. Let me know if you still need it. As for the ego thing, you never did have a real big one but I am sure you could get some lessons from one PC.
