Hi guys, Starting on my body work. Got a few dents, but no rust. Do i need to take the whole car down to the metal? Thats what I'm doing. Got quite a few panels with no dents. Thanks Joe

  2. I'm not a body guy so I can't answer your question but it's great to see another old Chevy getting back on the road. Good luck with your project!

  3. I would strip it all down to metal,
then you know what you got.
    Cool project!

  5. I agree...Strip it down to metal. You don't know what the existing paint is and how it will react to your new paint. It's well worth the effort.Nice old Chevy.....Keep us posted.

Two suggestions, both require taking off the valve cover. 1, replace two of the studs in the valve train with longer bolts or threaded studs, one forward, one to the rear, and attach lift chain to them. 2, wrap lift chain around rear of exhaust manifold and bolt together, or run bolt through chain into rear exhaust man. bolt hole, then run second bolt through chain and into front of head slightly towards passenger side.

Either set-up should get you a decent lift on your long six block. BTW, if you are using that six or a newer one for your rod, some inline guys have welded a section of pipe onto a flange or bracket that bolts to the side engine mount location so that they can mount it on an adjustable engine stand. Makes it a lot less tippy  by bringing the mass closer to the upright on the engine stand. Take a look around on Inliners.org for more inline tips.

    Later, Kinky6

they had the mag. car club at arby's today. Seen a car down there that had a H.A.M.B. sticker on the window. Got another member close to. Lives on the other side of Chapmans.

  23. That was probably me. I was there today. I have a sticker on the winshield and a topper on the back license plate. Red 34 coupe.

maybe one day, mine will look as good as yours. I checked it out today nice car. joe

  25. Shit fire, YB! You're truckin' on this project. How's the wooden innards? They gotta be as nice as the rest of the coupe. I'm kinda partial to Chevy Orange on the engine, but matching body color or even using a complementary color to body color wud be good. Sure am happy to see another Bowtie under construction. Please keep us posted on your progress.

You had to get rid of the traditional front end?

no, I still got it. But talking to the guys at the local car club, That my car would not handle well with the original front end. Joe

  29. I would have left the stock front on...they handle fine and work good. My 31 pickup had one, my 28 touring has one, and currently working on a 32 with a stock front

Chevrolet had Omaha Orange as a color choice in 1931.
