When we would be at my grandparent's looking at old slides, my favorites were almost always the family's car pics, and being from a long line of gearheads & drag racers you might understand why. Most of these cars were new when the photos were taken, except the 58 Chevy that was my uncle's. The red 64 Impala was my grandparent's car. Thats my dad leaning on the back of his 65 442.

My uncle, John Pavey, aka Johnny Hotrod, with his 64 Dodge and then later with a 'vette. I'll have to ask my dad how they wrecked it.
John was lifelong drag racer, winning the Pro Gas class at the Nationals at IRP back in 97 or 98. Sadly he died about 10 yrs ago from a brain tumor.

  24. Sign ordinances sure have changed to looks of business streets. I liked to old days a lot better. Every store had a lighted sign. One town passes a sign ordinance and then the other towns think they need to do the same.

Here's the page from the Tornado History Project site about that particular tornado (one of many that day); maybe you could post your pictures there as well:

It's got a link to a YouTube page with audio recorded in a church as the twister hit...

Very sad story about this plane: On June 5, 1950, C-46 N1248N carrying a crew of three, and 62 Puerto Rican migrant farm workers headed for Michigan, ditched in the Atlantic due to engine failure. 28 of those on board were unable to get to the life rafts and were drowned or eaten by sharks.

  27. This first shot is at the end of Jetty Road down at Glenelg , the end of the line for the Trams and in fact the only remaining tramline operating after the bulk of them were closed in 1958. It still operates today.

The second shot appears to be from King William Steet looking north across Grenfell street. The bus is an old AEC that the Municipal Tramways Trust operated back then.

The third shot appears to be looking across the Birkenhead Bridge at Port Adelaide.

The last shot also appears to be taken in King William Street taken a little further to the north than the other pic . This one is looking across to Rundle St and the Beehive corner. Appears to be the John Martins Christmas Pageant in progress.

    Thanks Sideplatesix great old pics

A picture from Norway in the early 40's of a 1921-25 Ford model T that have received a transmission from a 1935 Ford. It was later rebuilt more to look like the next picture.

Same car as above, in the late 40's, but now it have also received a body from a 1928 Ford model A, front axle from a 1935/36 Ford, and a front from a 1934-37 Terraplane model K. The car was in service until the 60's, and later sold to Sweden. Later history unknown.
