Lmao nice. In a way i kinda wish i went with bags. But the back end still has 4" clearance. Im driving a little vw gti right now for a daily and its on coils. Has about 4 1/4" clearance at the lowest spot. I havent rubbed anything yet in almost a year. And we got some SHITTY roads in md so im not stressin to much. Also check out brockman mellowtone glasspacks. There cheap, will build any custom length for you, and are available in steel or glass packed. They sound bitchin, especially on a small block. Youtube search em...

I only have about 5" of the clearance when I back outta my driveway, so if I lower it another 4" plus my exhaust running out the back I wont even be able to get out of my own driveway haha. Im just gonna run straight pipes with fishtails out under the bumper.

true. i guess it all depends on where your at and the local roads. thats one other thing too. since i built the notch so short to keep as much bed space as possible ill have to dump the pipes in front of the axle because i have zero room to run the pipes up over the axle. i wanted em out the back but i guess ill live with it. you said you had a " tired 283" in there. any plans for the mill in the future ? decent set of camel humps, a .125 overbore and an appropriate cam with a good carb/intake setup and those little bastards are supposed to scream. probly do it for cheap too. the fuelies are all over swap meets and craigslist for a couple hundred. im supposed to be trading an extra 4 bolt block and crank i have for a set of 2.02 heads to throw on the 350. i wish i had the straight axle still and a 283 tho....

Hey - How about some currents pics of the whole truck - went back a years worth of pages in your thread and no decent shots of El Trucko.......

Here's Uncle Bob's 57 bumper guard fitment (all repro parts from Brother's)..... bumber, guards, grill, headlight doors, mirrors, tail lights, visor etc. Except hood rockets found on eBay....

That's Uncle Bob loading it up last August....

looks tough dude, what are you working on next?

  13. I really like the looks of your truck, especially the wide whites and chrome wheels. There is one out here, see it once in awhile at some PA shows. Its a flat yellow, lowered with wide whites and chrome wheels also. Great model trucks!

The steering box is next. Im gonna swap it out for a rebuilt one. Once it drives straight Im gonna weld in the new cab corners and weld in my c-notch. After that I'll slowly start saving up for the parts to bag the rear.

Make sure you buy the expensive cab corner patch panel and not the cheap one. I have done both and you can read on my build thread all of the problems I had with the cheap one. It is junk. The good, uncoated cab corners are made in the USA and are superior quality, I didn't need to do much to it to get it to fit perfectly on the passenger side of my truck. I need to redo the drivers, but that will be down the road. The expensive ones are like 80-100 bucks a piece.

Keep it up man, its looking good... as soon as I wear these tires out on my pickup I am going to get some whitewalls for it like you did. I am stealing your look, sorry lol

I got the Counterpart patch panels. Dunno if those are good or not, I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it comes out haha. No worries on stealing my look haha, they look bitchin.

if it's the stock box, then you need to remove the 1- 1/2" nut and lock washer, use a pitman arm puller to remove the pitman arm, remove the steering wheel and then the 3 bolts holding it to the frame. Then weasel it out through the bottom. You may have to jack the truck up and put it on stands or blocks for some added height.

yep, the shaft is integral to the box, it all has to come out in 1 piece

I got the steering box out today, it came out pretty easy! I snapped a few pics too...

The box and steering column pretty much fell right out after the pitman arm came off.

I also found this on the drivers side fender. After taking the bondo out I figured its pretty fucked. Its got a few big creases and dents, and it has rot on the bottom that was filled with bondo. The passenger side looks like it has rot just as bad in the same spot. So that sorta sucks but whatever...just more shit to fix.

  30. Was it parked there before?, I thought I remembered it there a while ago....
