Since I started a thread asking for help (kinda ranting) with Magnum Axle, I'll give you a short update, with more to come as things settle out. I did finally reach Fred at Magnum. He was locked out of his building and phones also cut off for a while so no way to receive calls. He asked me to ship my "2008" axle to his home address to be inspected. He determined it was a "2008" axle and immediately shipped a replacement "code stamped" 2012 axle - got it yesterday. Stand up guy IMO. Specially when you know all the crazy **** he has endured for the past year. Short version, the axle failures basically put him out of business and into bankruptcy. He is working out the mess and plans to reopen very soon. This doesn't move the clock back for the few that had axle issues. But I believe he genuinely wants to return to the quality reputation his company enjoyed for decades before the bad foundry's mistakes. I think it is important to remember this guy has been making great parts for a long time and just trusted the wrong guys for just one order! And it cost him huge. That is one of the problems with operating a small business, one setback can destroy all the good things you have done. Magnum did make a lot of really good stuff but evidently that batch of questionable axles made all his customers gunshy. If he was BP Oil he would simply have paid the billion dollar tab and went on as if nothing had happened. Sorry to hear of another good American company going down the tubes, especially one in this hobby. Hope he comes back from it some day. Don
He is trying to make the come-back. I feel bad for the few guys that got their cars hurt - thank God no injuries. But losing thirty years of hard work has got hurt him too. The main thing to me is, he really is trying to make it right for the guys like me who bought their axles so long ago (and just got their cars running). Many people (companies) would just say tough **** after five years. It'll take some time to regain the public's trust but it's a start.
