Well, I just got back from a week long 3,500 mile roadtrip this morning. This was my first time at the show, I had been wanting to go after hearing about the first one. My model a is nowhere near being ready so we rented a 55mpg new prius and set out early last thursday from So Cal. I really wanted to be there for the BBQ and the cruise, but that was the soonest my buddy could leave and I'm glad he came along to split the driving.. It felt pretty long going through some parts of Texas! I have nothing but respect for guys that drive their cars all the way. Especially bikes and roadsters!!

We got to Austin just in time for the show on Saturday, and it was a blast. When the guy waved us to park in the grassy field, and the parking was free...I knew they had me at hello. I have to say for only $15 entry fee, no one has any reason to complain. Its a real bargain. Like ryan said in the JJ post, sure they needed more port-a-pottys, higher bleachers at the mini-bike races, more places to sit, and a good portion of the cars had a bit too much "Texas flare" for my taste, but overall it was a great show and there were tons of cool cars.

When the cars were cruising on South Congress, it really reminded me of Paso in the late 90's-early 2000's. It was really cool to see people actually cruising their cars. There was an area where the locals were all posted up and they had wet the street down encouraging people to light-em-up. There were lots of bikers, and all types of OT cars cruising on South Congress, but everyone seemed to be having a really good time. I saw guys hitting their switches right in front of the cops, and they didn't even say a word. I only saw one guy get stopped on a motorcycle because his headlight was out, but I think they let him go with a warning. i guess thats one of the cool things about Texas. Im sure the local businesses were happy to have all the people. From talking to a few people they said this was the biggest it has ever been. I hope it continues to stay a quality show and doesn't get spoiled by the yahoos, like the hootenanny, paso, ratfink reunion-mooneyes, vlv, blessing of the cars..etc. I have a lot of respect for the people that put on these shows, its a lot of work, and it's hard to please everyone!

I'll post all my pics from photobucket, hopefully it doesn't get full. I took lots of pictures of the stuff I liked.

Yeah man, I love Austin. Its a cool town. And you texans don't mess around when it comes to food!

For sure. Ill be back again. Hopefully next time at least with my triumph bobber. Roadster is gonna run a 21 stud flatty, so 3500 miles might be pushing it!

sorry, just those 2. It was pretty sweet though...

Who owns this badass Merc? I kept forgetting to take pictures of it even though I looked at it 200 times. It was parked at the Poodle Dog too.
