    Thinkin' outside the box again...

Was watching My Cl***ic Car and a salesman from Custom Autosound was hawking his wares, and one of the items he showed were these very cool bullet finned grooved satelite speakers. 3"x3.75"...chromed steel...

I immediately thought...taillights. The front finned cover unscrews like a flashlight...remove the speaker inside, and put in a gl*** lens and reflector guts...the black mounting stand could be replaced with whatever you can create.

Maybe someone could photoshop the finned part out and put in a round taillight lens ala '39 Chevy...I like the bullet grooves on the back...

  2. Larry, you should have done what I did, keep flipping the channels when that came on. I thought they made ugly speakers.

Just put some red plastic in the void and keep the "Blackout light" look.

Larry, I'm surprised you didn't think about making the black box into a tissue dispenser- that's traditional isn't it?

    hey...they laughed at Tesla...

Take the finned front off and I think it would look art deco...kinda like those firetruck taillights...can't remember their name...

    and they aren't plastic...chromed steel.

Are the speakers expensive? Even tho they are chromed steel, I would think the swap meet would be a much cheaper alternative.

These guys are local so I gave them a call just to see what the satellite enclosures were made of...cast metal. Resin copies would be easy to make but the original "metal" would be more sturdy.

Man, I dont know, I think I'm leaning more your way Larry, I think that could work out pretty good. Kinda not crazy about the indentations in the leading edges though, would be better if the front part of the housings were smooth.

I like it Larry, But man I bet they are expensive to just buy the speakers and then have to retrofit them to boot. Ha damn retirees are killing me... :) :)

Larry, Pay no mind to the naysayers. Even they will be cheering when you post the "how to" thread and saying "why didn't I think of that".
