Vintage shots from days gone by!

This has to be one of the most unique early French racing vehicles ever produced. From what little information we can translate and piece together, it is a 1901 Truffault, powered by a 7 horsepower Buchet engine. It has been reported that the machine finished second in a road race that originated in Turin, Italy and passed through Pinerolo, Saluzzo, Cuneo, Racconigi, and finally returned to Turin. They are highly modified Lambretta race bikes from the 1950s

The picture says LAmbretta. What deos Tex have in the back window of the green '55 wagon in post 70963? Is that a stick on rear window defroster?

 

After looking at all of the 1920's era racing pictures posted by Bowtie29 I decided to look at who some of the drivers were. Here is the first I tracked down was Earl Cooper. He was born in 1886 and died in 1965. He retired from racing twice once when WWI broke out and again in 1928. Here is a picture of Cooper and Barney Oldfield aboard a ship with their wives.

 

Wow!, by Jagman's pic post question, I would have never thought Scooter's. They're scale seemed larger in the photo.

This it Bernd Rosemeyer, a German racing driver that was killed during a land speed record attempt on the Autobahn between Frankfurt and Darmstadt on January 28, 1938. The car is a Horch.

 

Coach built, low dollar limo. Originally.

 

Just guessing that this is in Wichita, Kansas. Douglas is the main street going east and west and Hillside is a main street going north and south a couple of miles east of downtown.
