A three eyed dog with two noses????? Really? or a photo malfunction?

  2. One of each of these would be nice - lots of leg room.

The dog turned its head during a long exposure.

I love the headlight in the center. Seems like all cars should have one there in addition to the ones on the corners.

THANKS, Gary! :) Never saw this particular promo shot of the '59 Adventurer before. Beauty in two doors! I just wish that DeSoto could have been put to rest after the '59 run. The final year-and-a-half models are rare and valuable but just not as pretty and arresting as the '55 through '59 models when DeS hit its stride -- style, power and handling/comfort-wise.

PS: As I recall, they were designed and delivered on an impossible, rush-up schedule -- made possible by sheer WILL of the men and women in the aircraft plants.

This looks like someone's version of the Road&Track magazine cartoon car called the "Cyclops." The Cyclops was a mythical vehicle capable of fantastic speed and road holding ability. Plus, it was a very good cook and could clean the house. If my memory serves me, it sprang from the imagination of Henry Manney or Russell Brockbank, or maybe from both of them. The Cyclops was an ongoing gag which ran for a number of years in R&T.

Does anyone know the story behind this setup? Is this a prototype or was it offered for sale? Do any still exist? Sort of like a Motorhome without the Motorhome

  19. Another thing that makes this thread what it is. So glad my erroneous guess at that plane being a P47 jug inspired both the correct answer and follow-on discussion. "Setting history right, one post at a time"! :D

Looks like it was all contained in a roof mounted package. I'm suprised we didn't see that on the Brady Bunch.

Love the woman on the far right - fag hanging out of her mouth, broom in hand - a real asset for any car manufacturer - LOL

Anybody know what brand of truck this chassis is for,I think I read the Commer had a petrol motor that was made to give more cab room and sounds like it could look something like this and then there was that funky diesel motor that also had a low profile.
