i actually new a girl that had a Vega with power steering , drove it once and it seamed like overkill in a Vega....probably could be a good thing in a street rod
The Vega originally used a big 800-series Saginaw IIRC when they put power steering in them, one of the many reasons that thing grew into the wallowing overweight tub that was the Monza. This CPP box...they call it a 400-series and the bolt-on housing is reminiscent of the recent Delphi boxes but I can't really quite tell where it's sourced. http://www.cl***icperform.com/Series400/400SeriesPowerSteeringBoxes.htm Regardless, I'd be comfortable with spending the money on their stuff.
I think I might give it a try in the future, I like the idea of the quicker steering ratio. The Hemi with a blower is a little hard to park at 20:1 manual. It would be worse with 13:1 manual. Just got to fab a mount for a pump. Ago
"This CPP box...they call it a 400-series and the bolt-on housing is reminiscent of the recent Delphi boxes but I can't really quite tell where it's sourced." I would like to know if you figure out what they are off of. Hunt one down in the wrecking yard.
I just saw the 400 advertised in my new R&C, they may have not sold any yet but at $299 it would be a reasonable excuse to try one?..Having room/place to mount pump may be an issue but I used a gen11 with remote fill tucked under the right cyl bank, can't even see it unless you follow the lines [with a 605 box and cross steer/axle]..You MAY NEED a track bar, a tie rod that doesn't bow around like a spaggetti stick, little more caster..maybe, just pointing out stuff... Oh, and it will be heavanly to park..!!!!
