Love the old Warbirds...(sent to me by my pilot friend John Swander here)... http://vimeo.com/18135369
Awesome footage! Someday I'd sure like to hitch a ride on one. The C.A.F. in Mesa also just got use a C-47. Not as stylish, but still radials and only $250.00 a head.
Seriously? A C-47 is just a stripped down DC-3, awful lot of coin to fly a couple of circuits in an old passenger can thats theres still I believe at least a few hundred still flying today.
While Larry has all you vintage warbird fans aboard here, can anyone tell me if the white / black "Invasion Stripes" used on D-day / European campaigns were used at all in the Pacific or Far East during WWII? Gary, the thread thief.
Heres a rare bomber just restored in NZ and on its last display before being shipped to its owner in the US. Its the only flying Mosquito in the world. JW
They were used on aircraft in the RAF in 1944 and were gone by the end of that year, but were also used in Korea and the Suez conflicts in the 50s. JW
Thank you Larry! I always think of my Dad whenever a B-17 is mentioned, and how I wish I'd asked more questions about life on a B-17 base. Bob
Thanks for posting the video and thanks also for the picture of the only flying mosquito. I love all planes and I love old war birds even more!
Love old planes. Nothing like the sound of a old radial engine. The only thing missing in the video. Thanks for sharing.
X 2,,,I get choked up when I hear radials,,,can't help but think what they accomplished and meant to so many at a time of struggle,,,,,,
They've had an air show last week near me, so I've had the pleasure of listening to all the radials inbound and outbound all week, it's awesome!! Something about that sound brings a chill, and comfort all at the same time. Video was great. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
