And I thought you were the next Tony Montana...but no just some damn train thingy.
Love that car. I have seen it in the back ground several times on stuff you posted and have secretely waited for you to put it on the cl***ified section for sale. I would probably be forced to adopt another project were that to have happened. Did you get your 32 sold? Love that Ionia frame.

Haha, it almost ended up in the cl***ifieds a couple times!!! I just wasn't sure if I could keep it at times.

'32 is not sold but I have a couple people talking to me about it. The frame is something I'd love to keep but I think the Phaeton is going to get an original.

Last night I did some research her on this HAMB thingy and found some good info. DROD also used a Model A rear crossmember spliced into the original and used a T spring with it. If you have seen that car, you know it's about as close to perfection as it gets. I'm not wasting time experimenting I'm going right for the gusto and looking for a T Spring.

  9. Looks like a hell of project! This one will be fun to watch.

Just use the 33/34 pedals and don't lose time modifying the frame for later ones.

    That's what I was thinking!

Not only that, you'll pay 200.00 for a set of 39 pedals just to hack em up.

Oh boy D ROD, that's super clean. Ok that settles it I guess. If I can get it to look half way decent I'll find a set of '33-34 Pedals to use. I'll have to get a set in my hands to see what and if anything was modified on them to make that work . Very cool setup though.

Plumbid, I just douse some of the coffee on the greasy parts and the acidity just eats at it. :D:D:D

    Thanks guys.

  16. JJ,

Great to see you working on the 33. Lots of work ahead of you.

Andy and I comapred some notes on what we did and have found in our 33/34 building adventures. Here is a list, just some side notes:

33/34 pedal are the way to go, no doubts about it. I have an extra set if you cant find sometning locally. They will need a rebiuld kit.

35/36 torque tube/driveshaft is going to be a problem. You will have to shorten both. This can be a problem for the driveshaft since it is tapered. To shorten you will have to remove from middle. TT shortening is easy. Recomend that you find a later TT and driveshaft, preferably somthing from the mid to late 40's. It will have a solid shaft and be easier to modify. The later driveshaft will also add another twist, 36 rear is 10 spline, later are 6 spline, an adaptor will be required.

35/36 radius rods are good nice and strong, they will also need to be shortened.

Look for and acquire a 33/34 parking brake handle. Bolts to frame. Easier to bolt on , no mods required. You can see this in the pics from D-Rod

Look for and acquire a 33/34 brake equilizer shaft, makes hooking up the parking brakes super easy. Just run cables from equilizer to axle. Super easy

I am sure I am forgetting something. I will add more as I think of them.

Thanks guys for the info. I was going to try a 33/34 drive shaft inside a '35 Torque Tube if possible. Supposedly the 33-34's are the best to shorten and will bolt up with the '35 rear end.

I'm definitely on the hunt for some 33/34 Pedals and now a E brake handle. The Equalizer is a good idea as I used on in my '35 to hook up the e brake. If anybody has some of this stuff and is going to Austin I'd be interested.

  20. 34 Shaft inside 35/36 tube is OK. Not sure of Speedometer turtle location or fit, should be a direct bolt, just not sure.

No progress this last week as I've been sicker then a dog. I did get in a few Key pieces this past weekend including a Model A Rear Crossmember, an Oxygen Tank for a fuel cell and I got my Trans saddle back from being blasted. I also tracked down a Model T Rear Spring to use and I'll hopefully have that in the next week or two. I'm prepping to leave for Austin next week so I doubt you'll see any updates until I get back with maybe the exception of pics of new parts.

Oh and I'm looking for a nice 33/34 Driveshaft only. Anybody have leads on one?

Thanks to PA Gas, we have a 33/34 Driveshaft. I'll be picking that up from him at the Jalopy Showdown AS well as my Aircraft seat from Thunderbirdesq so it'll seem like Christmas.

One thing that's been on my mind over the last few days is gauges. I had set of SW that I ***umed were older then they turned out to be so now I'm trying to hunt down a few of the elusive 2-5/8 Smooth Bezel gauges which is more then likely going to be spendy sigh..... I want the details to be perfect though. I'd rather be missing a gauge or two then to put the wrong ones in. Anyways I'm on the hunt.

    Stay tuned....
