Mike and Tim, Thanks for taking all of the video and posting it. Man....that was a freakin' blast!! Clayton, I really do think that we need to put together a gathering of the Gow's!! Any pasture will do!!!!!
I don't know how anyone could have come from the HAMB-B-Q not wanting a model A powered racer! Good stuff!
Nate, It was great to meet you there!! I'm sure glad that we were able to get this thing running better before I had to go. What better place to have car problems than with a pack of HAMB-ers!!! What a blast it all was!!!
Here are some really, cool pics that Travis (Travisfromkansas) took of the Dust Bowl. I'm going to have to order some of these prints! Thanks Travis for the cool shots!!! These really make the old piece of **** look good!!!
Clayton, That affect to the picture does make her look much better than in person! Kind of like airbrushing a ****y pic before it goes into *******!!!
Thanks, Man!! It was a great day for sure. I couldn't be happier with the way the exhaust and intake turned out. Plus, it seems to run well with it too. Now onto the Winfield head, whippet radiator, etc, etc.....
Hey Bugy that Dust Bowl sounds real good!! I wouldn't mind racing around with you guys on those gravel roads in the Special. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun!!! Nice videos and pictures. Out in Banks Oregon there is a half mile clay oval track that has been used the NW Vintage Speedster group in the past. Would be fun to get together with a bunch of like minded guys and put the cars through the paces!
It was a ton-o-fun!! I'm seriously considering putting together a dirt track gathering of the Gows!! I'm an ex dirt tracker and I love the history of these cars on the tracks and racing at the county fairs. The way I see it, these types of cars are what started it all. There's the HAMB Drags so why not the HAMB dirt??!! I would love to figure a way for all of us to get together...... Thanks!! I was lucky that Tim and Cactus1 (Mike) had their cameras on! It was a great day for sure for a lot of reasons!!!
Part of the reason I wanted to film alot of it was to hear what we've seen a million photos of. Cars are way cooler moving and being noisy rather then a static photo. I was at the speedway museum and they talked how each year when they have the speedster/banger meet up I posted above that they record the sounds of each car idling, accelerating, decelerating etc because they want recorded record of how some of this old speed equipment changed the sounds. You know how hard it was to find that head, so now they keep record of what it even sounds like! I figured alot of people don't have any idea what a ford banger sounds like so I wanted to make a point of getting yours recorded for the video. Can't wait to see it go sideways in some dirt! I'll video that to lol
Now that is a great idea! . I would totally be up for that! Sent from Mr. ModelT's DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Hey Bugsy! That was the most fun I've ever had with my pants on, hahaha!!!! Sounds like I need to start my three-springer build! Zoom!!
Tim...we could have got that shot for you last weekend but I did't want Mike to fly out!! My door latches aren't real dependable!!! Taking the head in tomorrow to be checked out and trued up. Finally found a cap that fits my Whippet radiator!!! It's a winged, Chrysler cap. The funny thing is that one of the wings broke amd it looks like someone broke the other to match it. So...it's kind of fitting that the Dust Bowl has clipped wings!! Clayton...I'm seriously going to see what can be done to put this together. One of the biggest issues really isn't the liability or finding the property...it's the distance between all of us!!! Mike...it was a blast, man!! I'm glad you were able to catch the evidence on video!! Three-springer?? Hell yeah!! GET WITH IT, MAN!!!
My father had a '27 Chrysler, In his quest to find a nice unbroken rad cap, he must of found 5 that were broken. He did finally get a nice one. Hope you can put the pasture race banger meet together.
Funny you mention the broken Chrysler cap....I have a near perfect one I know there is some distance between us....but if we could get a good event together and enough pre-1939 Gow Jobs, Hot Irons and Hop Ups.....the roadster and I would certainly make the trek for the occasion Sent from Mr. ModelT's DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Theoldmotor.com. . Has a few like this. I go there for inspiration . . For those guys back then the soul speed part was less parts..lighter was faster.
Still no word. It's my buddy's shop and I think I'm back burner!! This weekend I'm going to start in on fabbing up the mounts for the Whippet radiator. I'm pumped about this as I've been waiting a LONG time for it!! Pics to follow soon!
I know there is some distance between us....but if we could get a good event together and enough pre-1939 Gow Jobs, Hot Irons and Hop Ups.....the roadster and I would certainly make the trek for the occasion The HAMB Dirt, I like that Idea. I could just see a bunch of the early cars runnin' around on dirt. Clayton we 'd have to find a trailer to haul both cars on in one trip or would you be up to a drive?
I have a couple of locations already that we might be able to utilize. Both are in Kansas though. I've kind of started some preliminary legwork on this idea....I think this is VERY doable. More to come.....
Hell, I'd maybe even be up to runnin' my tub down there, as along as its okay with the idea. I used to live just Southeast of KC, and it would be nice to see my ol' stomping grounds from the seat of a Phaeton...
It would be! Who do we know that has a double trailer? I would be up for the drive Keep us posted for sure! Sent from Mr. ModelT's DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
