    Without further adieu....

Now things have definitely no progressed like they should but throw the Lone Star Round up and a Pinched Nerve in the mix of my life and that's my excuse. There was some work and tasks crossed off the list.

First I got a few more things for the car. One being a Bell 4 Spoke steering wheel, a S**** Pedal ***embly (Thanks Chris!) and thanks to Terry K a hand operated pressure pump with gauge. Pics of those are coming as soon as I receive them. I also ordered up the tires with were brought to Charlotte while I was in Austin (Thanks Jerm for picking them up!).

Oh I also picked up this Oxygen Tank from Race City Rodz here on the HAMB and it's in great shape. Original paint still in tact and stenciled letters looking great. That's going to mate up to the pressure pump great!

I started looking over the frame last week checking for cracks, grinding down booger welds and finishing a few things that needed attention while I waited for a few friends to come over and take the body off the frame which happened this past Sunday. I also had a chance to throw the front suspension under the car once I beat the trans saddle back in just to mock things up. Really excited to see it on his feet.

Here's a shot of it sitting on my '32 frame where it resides until the original frame is ready...

While I was at it, I threw the F1 steering box in for good measure just so I can get the drag links and such situated. Once thing I noticed when the body was on was that even though the steering box was modified for a '33 by welding a flange on at the correct angle, the steering wheel was really close to the door. After some discussions with NealinCa, he told me he couldn't see a problem in machining a spacer to pitch the steering column a few degrees toward the center to save my knuckles.

So once the body was off I started inspecting the frame that was under the body and was kinda disappointed to find an area that needs some real attention. See 90-95% of this frame is in incredible shape with it needing nothing more then a few pits filled and some primer. But as with a lot of double framed ch***is, the years of dirt and moisture getting trapped between them will eventually reek havoc. This one section at the rear of the p***enger side ended up being the only real ch***is work that needs to be done to get it back to square one.

So I started by cutting a little bit of it out to see what's what and how far it travels up. Luckily it's only about 18" of the inner rail. Initially I was thinking about cutting all the rivets out and dis***embling the entire frame but after some intervention from my friend Jerm I think the best plan of attach is going to be carefully cutting that inner rail out and splicing a new piece in after cleaning it up completely and getting rid of the much trapped in between.

Couple other places that I started cleaning up.

Here's the usual crack early ford frames often see. Simple fix.

Rear Crossmember I got from Chris. Going to splice this in once I get the frame back to square one. Anybody know Bruce Meyer's HAMB name? I'd like to know just how much the Pierson Coupe Spliced in.

Wheels were blasted and etch primed. I just started filling some of the pits tonight with some glazing putty. Pics of them all sanded coming...

Any idea what wheels were produced by KH and why?

Fronts got the trust worthy 5.00-16 Firestone Ribbed Runners as pretty much all 33/34's of the day had them.

Back got 7.00-17's Firestones. Yes wires out back and steelies up front. Another thing I'm paying homage to the 33-34's of of the late 40's early 50's.

    And some random shots...

It's not an original floor or original styled floor like I would want but it's pretty nice so it'll do the trick...

    Doors are ready to go....

You know the previous work was awesome when ya don't even want to leave the underside. Never fear, Damon at Moonlite Metal in Mooresville, NC is redoing the roof in June!!!

    And the old parts getter....

And before I forget, Thanks to Speedy Canuck who donated a 33/34 Brake Actuator to the project. I've used the stock one on my '35 to hook up the E brake and it works awesome so this is a great gift. Thanks dude!!!

You delivered. Great pictures.. I can see where you guys were sticking the phaeton in that back corner. It was weird trying to figure out where you guys were putting that thing in your IG pictures.

Your garage's bigger than I thought. Dang, son.

We done snuck it up in the corner! The garage is a perfect size for me right now. 30x20 attached to house and fits all 3 cars nicely. I can't say I need more right now but I could get a bit more organized. Of course I'd take more if I could get it. :D

Working on getting wheels ready for fill primer tonight. I gotta go get the '40 Ford Maroon paint for them soon.

Oh, I forgot to quote this question. Were you unaware that the '40 Ford wheel was produced by Kelsey-Hayes too? You probably did, but I'm not quite getting what you're asking.. Here's a shot of one of the stamps on one of my wheels as well.

Sure, I'm driving my econoline pickup down so I'll just throw it in the back.

  14. Man JJ, you'd get more done if you had some colour in your life! :p

Maroon wheels you say. Is that the plan for the body colour?

  16. Making progress, would be making more if I could finish the customer car I have been working on and stop changing build direction on my build.

Andy and I rolled the floor pans, need to build trans tunnel and weld them up. Chaged my brake system again! Removed the dropped 34 axle and matching round back spindles, replaced it with a 37 tube that I have been polishing. Different radius rods to fit the 37 axle. New transmission cross member, went back to a modified stock cross member. New motor mounts, new generator mount. Been doing some repair work on my A pillars where the chop was messed up a bit. Doing some welding and fixing on my cowl and cowl feet.

Andy and I both bought new Rodsville QC's, he is building mine up for me. Trading some parts for some of his talents.

Sold our house in Alden. Closing early June. Going to Italy for 2 weeks next month. When we get back, I get to move the house and the shop!

Well changing up the plan always adds time to a build. Moving doesn't help in slightest bit either. Quickchanges and Italy......lucky!!!!

Awesome!!! Thanks so much and I'll take one of those Rodsville Quickies too :D:D

Well Yes and no. The eventual plan for when this car get's finished finished is '40 Ford Maroon with Vanilla White wheels. However this time is just how it's going to run around until I get enough money to do it right. I'm kinda thinking a drabbier shade of 1941 Lusterless Blue Drab with Maroon wheels this go around. How's that for color in my life.

    Thanks Bud!

    I appreciate it Hack!!!

Well no pics just yet but had a great day working on the car on Friday. Started the day off filling pits and smoothing out the two '40 Wheels up front. Once that was done I switched gears to cutting out the inner boxing rail so that I can properly take car of the dirst and rust scale behind it. I also took a BFH, some ear muffs and brute force to knock the rest of the dirt loose from the cracks and crevices. Needless to say, there was a bunch of stuff coming out of that frame.

About that time, my friend ShooShoo came over to do some thrashing. We ended up getting the entire front of the frame all squared away with hairline cracks all welded up and welds finished. We also welded up the holes in the trans saddle so I can redrill them since they were torched out from another frame.

That leaves making a template, cutting it out of 12ga steel and welding it back intowhere I cut out the old piece. THEN starting to splice the Model A rear crossmember into the existing one which I'm unsure at what height to do so. ANYONE have Bruce Meyer's HAMB name? I need the measurement on the Pierson Coupe :)

Taking the front wheels to the tire shop tomorrow to see if they'll balance out alright and heading to ShooShoo's old friend's house to see if I can hunt down some items i need which are the following....

    I NEED.

•33/34 Brake and Clutch Pedal ***embly
    •33/34 Rear Transmission Mount
    •1940ish Ford Hubs
•1931 Chevy Gas Tank (not urgent)
    •Original Ford Engine Mount Adapters
    •1940 Pitman Arm (I think)
    •Aftermarket Steering Arm

Front wheels checked out ok. One had a little wobble but nothing to be concerned with. WIll definitely be looking for a mint set for the second version but these should be great for this go around.

Now time for some primer and paint.

Haha me too! I'll order up a new one as soon as I get the car sitting on all fours just in time to test fit a flathead. Found a cap for the wishbone ball last night at a friends.

Just need to score a set of 33/34 pedals, Flathead engine mount adapters, and some '40 hubs for now.

Until then I part with a show of some painter's tape giving me (and you) an idea what another inch will look like out of the front windshield.
