Picked up this all original Dan Woods T Bucket....Dan Woods was the creator of the "Milk Truck" that he built in the 1960s when he was 16 years old. The T grabbed the attention of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth who then hired Dan Woods to work for him. Google Dan Woods...

    Pictures are here...

I will probably leave it as is...mechanically it runs great!

That's horrible that somebody tried to "patina" that T with sanded-through primer. It needs a full resto.

Man...I remember that from the San Jose Autorama, we were impressed with the suspension components...the construction of the car was excellent.

Dan Woods was ahead of his time.

  5. Too cool, I have to agree though that it is a shame that someone thought sanding it would make it better. Think I'd have to restore it this point too.

That's awsome! Gotta side with everybody else though and say it's time for a resto. These cars were built as way polished show boats and they just will never be comfortable in "patina". I fore see lot's of brass polishing in your future...

I've been watching that car on Craigslist for weeks !
You don't know how many times I reached for the phone to make the call,
but knowing I already have to many cars kept me from dialing !!!!

    Great score !

Thats the way I found it....It is Orange underneath all that "faux-tina"....and I mean SUPER BRIGHT ORANGE!

Tough to decide which way to go....would be a ton of money to bring it back to its shiney self....I may just leave it and drive the heck out of it. I did take it to a "T Bucket" meet and it attracted a ton of people even though it was surounded by 20 or so shiney ones!

Bright orange? I think I remember that car from Rod&Custom or Street Rodder in the early seventies.

I am trying to track its ownership to see if I can get some more info or old pics....The guy I bought it from said Curt Hamilton (Cal Automotive, and very active in the creation of T Buckets) came by to see it and confirmed it was a Dan Woods. If Curt is on here I, it would be great to pick your brain a bit!

The Wood's pedigree is pretty indesputable, he was really about the only builder that set up front suspensions like that. The only exception to the that would be Carl at "The Rod Factory" here in Phoenix. He got the name "copycat Carl" for a reason! But his pivot arms and such were a bit different from Wood's.

I've always liked the look of a Dan Woods car, what a great find! Was all the brass work built by Gilbert Metalworks? Thanks for a nice trip back in tome. Bob

There was one called "TangerineT" that was Tangerine/Orange but it had an all polished aluminum 215" Oldsmobile egine in it.
I'm pretty sure it had that style high back bucket though.
The Parts Manager at the Olds dealer I worked at in Torrance CA used to drive it to work sometimes.

The Radiator is a Jim Babbs...the lights are original Model Ts.....I am certain the motor was changed somewhere along the way...it is a 1970-80s 305....

Now that's what I call a REAL find. It's a bonafied icon from rodding's past. If I owned it it would be restored to it's former glory and if possible I'd have Dan involved it it's restoration. Please let us know when you put it on
Ebay. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like a shot at it. Probably would go for way more than I could afford but it would be cool to place a bid and be able to say "I almost bought the old Dan Woods T":). I know you will say it isn't going on that auction site but there have been many others who have made that claim and the lure of a big payday seems to win out in the end.:(

I also bought and sold a Dan Woods car, about 10-12 years ago. I had the White Lighting car with a Keith Black 426 hemi and a Art Carr transmission it also had a Jim Babbs radiator and steel fenders that he had done, car had suffered from grand kids sliding down fenders and cats tearing up the interior plus peeing on the capet. It needed work before driving but the engine running got your nipples hard it sounded so good. I talked with Dan while I had the car, he's in the Salinas area, I sold the car to a guy who wanted the drivetrain so don't know where the car ended up............

With some strategic lacquer thinner application times I bet you could strip alot of that crappy black off. Hell, whaddya got to lose?

I would try carb and brake cleaner, first. Never know.

Color me green. Love old Ts especially with such a pedigree. Nice trumpet, too.

If you can't restore it, sell it to someone who can. That car deserves better than the played out "survivor" story.

if you ever take a rear tire off i would appreciate pictures of the skylarks and how Dan Woods used to reverse them.
