exwestracer: Much thanks, for reachin' out with encouraging words, my friend... I walked into a restaurant, one real long day. Got this one (Roth Mag) handed to me by an ol' 1%er. Goes way back.. I told him, no way... "I can't take this from you, man." Dude just said I'd earned it and walked out. Blew my mind.... Sat there for an hour or two. You all make a difference, man. It's a strange thing, rebuildin' the house of dead friends. Sometimes, at night, when there's no sound in the building, I'll just stop and look around for a while. Just found this thread. Didnt know this part of history existed here in KC (I'm a transplant ). I have read it all and still want more. Keep making it happen! I would love to see the shop.

Wild Child's| History Got a wild surprise in the mail! Our work in Playboy Magazine; a full page spread. I'm told, this was the first full page ad in playboy, devoted to anybody, at no charge. A class act - courtesy of Hugh Hefner (and I guess it was done for us in two issues - support Playboy, friends). Like Tom said, earlier, this exposure gave us national attention when we were later credited as the originators of the Auto Arts & Furniture Movement. Ever seen furniture or fine art made out of a vehicle? It all started in Kansas City. Justin,I read this in its entirety and I have to say you have learned well beyond your years. Your determination and focus is something to be admired for shure. A lot can be learned from your story young and old. Most may not get it,some may,but there are the few. I have never met you or your dad but from what I seen he and yourself walk your talk. Good things come when your as dedicated as you are,your journey is only begun. Much respect and wish you well.
Justin, glad to see you are acquiring Lockwoods,are you going to have all the original paint formulas they had? I had them mix a color she called red okay cross link for my 55 chevy back in 85 they gave me a suggestion to use a black base coat.As best as I can remember it was pigeon blood,red pearl,black cherry and a few other reds mixed in . Took a lot of best paint awards with it.It would change colors as you walked around it and looked almost black at night.Had a lot of people trying to figure out what it was. It's got me thinking about painting my 39 the same color..
Oh yeah, I should be able to mix that. I, for sure, have 35 gallon drums of the base pigments. Since I'm not setup yet though, it'd be a little pricey, right away. That's just because I'd have to buy enough material, to mix each individual formula part, in order to mix them together in your color; it'd take me a few gallons of paint to make you one - you know.
