Vintage shots from days gone by!

All of those remarkable discoveries notwithstanding, the thing I would miss most is Kleenex. Remember when men actually carried handkerchiefs? It wasn't all that long ago. Possibly one of the most disgusting inventions of all time (if you can call a ratty old piece of cloth an invention.)

 

Anybody know if this is the California or Norwood Ohio plant.

This 1937 photo made available on Friday May 3, 2013 by the RAF Museum London shows a German WWII Dornier Do 17 bomber in Zurich. The only known surviving example of the German Dornier Do 17 bomber known as the “flying pencil” is to be salvaged from its watery grave in the English Channel. Two types of round spheres apparently helped well known English dirt track racer Les Blakeborough. This undated press photo shows a wheel he invented that carried a series of large wooden balls mounted on the rim in place of a tire. The inventor claimed his new device makes broad-sliding more rapid and also made it possible to broadside on hard surfaces. More at The Old Motor.

These bi-planes are Curtiss SBC-3 Helldivers, the last bi-plane type ordered and built for the US Navy. They never saw combat with the USN and were obsolete by the outbreak of WWII, they were then sold to France in 1941!
