Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bad Bob, May 6, 2013.

  1. Well, the "Clockwork Orange" Skylark is now cruising San Diego area. Didn't look like anybody was climbing over obsticles to buy it,so I traded it away.
Here's some pic's of what I traded for....

    Before...

  2. After...
Cut the bag mounts off and lowered them 4",so it wouldn't sit on the ground when you let the air out. Added some old caps I had. relocated the shocks,so I can sheetmetal over the c-notch.

Like how it looks now, I think its the two tone that exaggerates the chop. I bet it's not as much as I think.

  10. I might replace them with some new repop ones, the same Olds type. No gold paint though.

  11. Either the seat is cut down,or out of something else.

  12. Just a guess,but I would say 6"...

    What under the Hood?

  14. Here's what the interior looks like. The yellow stuff is glue, cause it had white gorilla hair on the dash top. Not sure what i'm gonna do with the dash though. Might paint the bottom black and put the gorilla hair back on. Metal part of the doors will be painted black. Plan on an engine turned peice for the gauges, since none of them work. Headliner is saggin,so need to address that...

  15. It has a freshly rebuilt 250/6,split manifold, and a turbo 350 trans. Runs awesome! Great gas mileage too...

  16. Here's what the rear suspension looked like. All that bag crap is coming off...Leafs are going back on soon.

  19. I was never a fan of the Skylark, but I think I improved the looks of it. Wasn't ever gonna keep it. The truck,I would keep. I love trucks...

  20. FYI...that's the before pic. Before raising the truck 4". It doesn't look so extreme now.

  21. Anybody have one of those beefy diamond plate rear bumpers, they don't want? Maybe I can just make me one...

  22. not diamond plate bumper ! LOL nice trade Bob

  23. I've been driving my Merc everyday for years,so it's nice to park it and work on some of the interior stuff. I'll be driving the truck as a daily now...

  24. No?

  25. Well when you do the frame swap, the truck (current one) should cover everything(all expenses),and then some..... I was partial to the truck you traded for the buick, but that's just me.
Enjoy the hell out of it,and when it comes time= say adios.
I think you'll get more enjoyment out of this one than the last one (buick).:p.

How about just finding a pair of lowering coils for a rear coil spring car that are the right height to set your static height where you want it? Someone probably sells them for a G body GM car that will get you right were you want to go. That would get rid of the bags but wouldn't take reengineering the whole rear suspension.

I'd bet that was the stock seat with the seat base cut down, a lot better looking than a lot of the options that never seem to work comfort or appearance wise.

  28. I loved the 38 Pick-up also. Needed more than I could afford to fix, right now. It's still in my neighborhood,so it could always be RE-acquired haha
This one will go up for sale too,at some point.

  29. haha,Thanks. No Bonneville in this truck. It's not a long haul vehicle. More like a Bar hopper...

  30. I already tried some lowering coils, but the mounts are in the way of fixing the wheel tubs, and I have a set of leafs off a friends truck,so i'm going that route. The seat looks like a stock one,but it sits right on the floor.
