Weld in the back doors and make a 2 door sedan. There are allot off coupes out there including mine. just my opinion.

It looks pretty cool like it is. The front tires are tad big for a 33-36, but those Halibrands look great on there. As far as converting it goes, it probably depends on what you want to do with it. If you're going to sell it, it'll be hard to get your money back if you have someone make all the rear coupe panels and reshape the quarter windows, etc... Then it's gotta be put together, and look good when it's done. The early coupes are hard to find, but don't command the same money that the 37-42 cars do.

If you keep it as a 4-dr sedan, build it just far enough that someone else could put their engine & tranny in it, and paint as they see fit. You'd probably want to spend your money on making something that looks good... meaning something that looks period correct with the right stance, right suspension, right tires & wheels etc... If there's nothing unique there to entice someone your sedan, it wouldn't be too hard for someone to find another one to build. Just my 2 cents.:)

Does anyone have photos of the '33 Willys campaigned by S-W-C as a third car in the early '60s which had Chuck Finders as the driver. If I have missed it or them I am sorry. Been on the internet but none have shown up as of yet. Thank you all.

    My Chuck Finders story:

I visited his shop before I built my '33 willys. He answered all my chassis questions. When I was leaving I commented on a nice chrome plated brass Willys hood ornament he had on his car and asked him where he got it. He said he had them cast and tossed me one. I felt like the kid in the Mean Joe Greene commercial when Mean Joe tossed him his game Jersey.

Several years later I had my '33 at a drag race and Chuck was there with his yellow Pro-Mod style AA/GS car. I happened to win my class and some Chevy oil filters were part of my prize booty. Since I run a Ford engine I went over and gave them to Chuck as his car had a BBC. I reminded him about the time he gave me the hood ornament and expressed my eternal thanks.

SWC teamed up with Chuck Finders in late 64. They were working on preparing the new hemi and building the black car. They had Chuck fill in using their blown Olds at some of their booked in races. The 33 even ran a little quicker than the 41. Once the hemi and new car was finished, it outperformed the Olds, and the partnership was dissolved. The blue 33, also known as the Dark Horse, was one of the first all glass 33 Willys bodies. It eventually became the Altizer, Finders & Kibler "Traveler" 33 Willys.

Did you see the 33 coupe on Kijiji Sask 2 weeks ago? Sitting in the bush. The guy did not know what he had and was shocked to get offers over 10k. The stuff is still out there just harder to find.

  26. Great shots....

  27. I came upon a '36 coupe sitting just like one of those about 20 years ago, bought it, then sold it a month later, thinking that it was too far gone for me to save. Knowing the feeling when I saw it sitting there, to see that many, they would have to pick me up off the ground and resuscitate me. What a cache!!!
If you can't get rid of them let me know!!!!!!

As for the story on the 33-4-5's .......

I emailed the guy who owned 4 of the 7 in the photos. He no longer owns 3 of them, they have moved on to new owners 15 plus years ago... so :(,

I know a guy locally that has a few 33 coupes in his back yard and even has a roof from a 33 hanging in his rafters. And he will never sell.
