Okay, please keep the hate at a minimum, however, what does the 6 mean in the bullet grill center...I was ***uming for a six cylinder???
Years ago I had a bunch of these that were new old stock from an old Ford dealer. When I was at the swaps selling them I told people they were 9's from an experimental Ford project. Half of the people thought it was funny, half of them were very confused.
I've been trying to sell one of those rare NOS 9 cyl. Center bullets for a while now. No takers yet. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
It's actually a 9, somebody installed your bullet upside down. The rare 9 cylinder only came on the very late 50 ford. I know, I had a girlfriend who's boss'es grandmother's babysitter had one. They had a vibration problem and were discontinued in '51.
9 cylinder, huh? What configuration; in-line, V, opposed or radial?? Inquiring minds need to know!! ; )
Apparently your Studebaker doesn't have an original "shoebox grille". Probably one of those faux knockoffs from China!
speaking of a 6 shoebox center grille.. I did some work for a local collector on a 50 with a 6. He bought the car from an estate. The trunk was full of aftermarket parts that the last owner must have bought since ebay was first started... One part was a complete working center headlight unit that fits like Tucker car had. It had cable and brackets to hook to the steering linkage, so the light would aim where you were turning.
In the 60s a buddy of mine had a 33 Plymouth cabriolet with an Olds. in it. Not seen very often. The snap in crank hole cover had the 6 but he'd turn it over He got a lot of questions. One of them was mine.
My mother's family had a car her dad had put one of those lights on. They were on vacation in the South and when the highway patrol saw it they made him remove it as it was illegal in that state.
F&J, If I'd had One of those Center Headlights............. I probably would'nt have wrecked My 'Chevy !!!! LOL
Radials always have an odd number of cylinders in each row if they are four cycle. Since cam rings are used to actuate the valves it couldn't be otherwise. Chrysler built a prototype FWD round engine car in the 30s.
