Well heck, you had me all confused...I thought you just got this as a project, but you've already got it done. The car looks great the way it is now. Nice job.

What history? Was it raced by someone famous? What exactly qualifies as history? If anything, history is only as valuable as the people who acknowledge it. There were hundreds of cars raced in the fifties. Do they all have history? Just asking.

And that car is FAR from boring and bland.

A-Men on the History! But Duh me thought you were trying to figure out which way to build it. I like it now just the way it is!

FWIW, to me, a car that has photographic proof that it was a Hot Rod going back to the 40's or 50's has "History" as opposed to a car that could have been built recently from a stocker or just a body. I'm not saying famous, just saying "old hot rod" history.

WTF, did someone on here say that because it's old (do***ented), it dont mean it's history?
Did someone say it's ugly brake it apart and give it to someone who wants to build an odd-ball traditional rod, and safe it.
So some people wants a guy to cut a nice, safe(ish) and solid car up, to turn it in to something traditional. Again WTF!!

If that frame was avalible in one broken piece I take the rest of it in a heartbeat. Shipping might be where it goes out of proportion, but for the love of GOD; don't s**** it.

Sad to hear it got parted out and is lost for all future. RIP

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Dealing with old hot rods and their history is an interesting thing. The HAMB is amazing. Thanks to King Ch***is for posting the great photo collection he did!! I wanted to clarify what I have of the original car circa the new found photographs.

What I have that are original car are the basic structure of the car. The frame, the body and doors, dash, windshield ***y., shock mounts, headlight mounts. The rear panel has been replaced and the deck lid was lost along the way. The door jambs still have the original paint history over the years as they were never stripped. The door jambs were never stripped. For an old hot rod with different owners, etc. through the years it is pretty complete. It had different owners up to about 1965 that no doubt changed the drivetrain and the steering several times. It then sat in a barn until I bought it in 1993. It has been driveable since 2002. I have been interested in it's history every since and purposely did not restore the body beyond patch panels or throw away parts.

I agree that the photographic proof is what is important to identify a car or show how it was at a point in time.

It was a hot rod in the day, it is a hot rod now (even traditional!) and it is on the road and being driven.

How can any of you complain about that?

I think that car is definitely a worthy candidate of a restoration back to its channeled LaSalle powered condition as close to original as possible. '40 Ford column shift and all. Not talking about concours quality necessarily but very nice and sympathetic to the original. Photographic proof is so important. That is a great photograph. And a great story. There may not be many if any LaSalle powered restored cars from that era much less deuce roadsters. Not too crazy about the Hudson radius rods though. Just don't look right.

Practically speaking though, I like my car the way it is. Everybody I know is used to seeing it. All the bugs are worked out and it has about 15k miles on it. So for this summer it's going to be all about driving it. Right now I don't know what I am going to do next week much less whether I will or I won't restore it while I am the owner. Anyway all the pieces will be preserved if that did ever occur. Tryin' to think just one day at a time. Still hot on the trail for more history.

Anyone have information or pictures about Cad/LaSale powered rods or customs?? I wonder how they drive? What kind of ******'s do they usually run. What type of heads are on the car in the vintage picture. Are they Edmunds.
