I guess I'm not reading this right? So according to the 1960 Truck Comparisons Booklet, Chevrolet did not offer the small block V8 in the C10-C50? I'd swear I saw V8s in Chevy picksups from '55-on. They weren't common in the south, but there were a few. What year was it first available?

Always knew Studebaker was the real leader in those days, but they offered a V8 in pickups from '55- on.

  8. Ive got a 60 apache that was a factory V8 ,powerglide auto, shortbed fleetside, big back glass and it hasnt any crome or stainless trim. It has a rectangular master cylinder witjout a clutch provision. stand type side mounts bolted to the suspension crossmember. they are different than the later 63 up engine side mounts. so I know thay made at least one.

That chart is showing the "standard" engines, Chevy offered the 283 as an option. I bought a brand new 1960 Chevy p.u., 1/2 ton, with the 283.
