color flake i only spray in intercoat. so i can bury it 3 or 4 coats of clear. chrome flake i spray 90% of the time in intercoat clear. since i mix so much flake at one time i get the coverage i want in 2 coats. since i add so much flake clearcoat tends to drip. :D . now this is the way i do it not the same as everyone else but its my way.

Elspock84 thanks for the insight. I didn't have much luck putting it in the clear so I bought one of those flake busters and that wasn't much better

flake busters fucking suck! waste of flake and money. this is the only gun i use for flake. ive had the same one for about 2 yrs now :) never clogs unless you over do it wit the flake (guilty) but for 40 bucks the best flake gun out there for me . roth has their "flake bomber gun" its a fucking china gun wit a sticker for 130. dont get suckered like me for that shit.

I picked up this gas can from a thrift shop so I could practice painting. Here is what I finished last week. Will be striped up at a later time.

Very nice. I can't say I remember ever seeing someone trick out their gas can. You could be a trendsetter!

Would you know what my problem with this window trim is? I can't say why? I have flaked a bunch of stuff but not an expert for sure. Just looking to not have it happen again. Its weird it's not all over just in certain spots. The heaterbox it more all over but trim pieces are just in spots and no reasoing where. I was thinking I didn't wait long enough for inter clear whats your thoughts? Thank you

Here's what puzzles me. Same pieces done right next to each other. Same everything. One bubbled one nothing.

A friend I work with just got an iwata 3.5 for spraying poly fill, or feather fill whatever you want to call it...super thick stuff that comes out like ceiling popcorn if you use a regular paint gun. It works like a champ for that stuff, so I figure it would be great for flakin. Its about 130, but its an iwata, really good paint guns and airbrushes for the money

That looks like some kind of solvent got onto or under the paint. Yes it is possible you didnt wait long enough before the intercoat. Also possible that you didnt sand enough for good adhesion or didnt wipe it off good enough after sanding the primer. It is also possible the primer had not cured enough and was extra thick on that spot but more likely is the first. Only fix is to sand it off and start over.

that shit just happened to me on a car i just layed some flake patterns on. only one spot on da whole car it lifted up on. i blamed it on da painter only adding 2 coats of clear. did you spray the flake over a regular base or over a base that had been cleared before? if it was over a base wit no clear than im gonna agree wit delpalas statement.

Had 3 coats of clear over the base. I think it was not enough time after clear. I'll try again this week. such is life.
