I remember watching those Evil Empire (May Day?) parades showing their military might to a cowering world...
Then we elected a President with balls and that was that.

I'm lookin' for the photo of the two smoking punks, one standing and one sitting in the driver seat of a '55 Ford. Flat top haircuts and dirty jeans. That is such a great shot. Anyone have any idea what page this pic is on?

Miss Janis Lyn Joplin one of the greatest vocalists of the psychedelic-acid rock era. Also known as 'Pearl' by friends, she took "Big Brother and the Holding Co" to a new level of fame before moving on with her own bands, "Kozmic Blues Band" and the "Full Tilt Boogie Band".
In her short 4 year career she became one of the biggest names in music, releasing songs like, "Me and Bobby Mcgee", "Down on Me", "Summertime", "Piece of My Heart", "Ball 'n' Chain", "Maybe", "To Love Somebody", "Kozmic Blues", "Work Me, Lord", "Cry Baby", "Mercedes Benz". She became a headlining name at festivals such as "Monterey Pop", "Woodstock", and "Festival Express". She has been voted the 28th greatest singer of all time by "Rolling Stone" magazine and inducted into the "Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame".
Sadly a life of extremes took her too early at age 27 on 4th October 1970.
27 was an age that many famous artists were lost at like Jimi Hendrix who died only 16 days before Janis.
Some great people who blazed a bright trail across the music world only to burn out too soon.

    Doc.

(P.S. Sorry for being so O/T but just a great fan of Janis!!)

    The Bristol 170 Freighter.
Designed during WWII as a short range transport, it never reached the production numbers that it should have due to the end of the war. Post-war, only 214 were made.
It could carry two full-sized (American) cars plus 12 passengers or three smaller cars and 14 passengers.
Although several survive, the last flight of the 170 was in 2004.

What a waste of good cars! I would mind having any one of them today over the junk on the roads now. Minus the flood damage, of course!
If the happened today, it would be almost impossible to tell what kind of cars were stacked up. They all look just alike!
I miss the good ol' days when you could just glance at a car and instantly know what it was.
    (SIGH)
I guess those days are long gone, aren't they?

If she drank all of those cups of coffee, it might just explain the look on her face.
