Yeah, my guess was a platform to stand on and play with your big hose.

Looks to me like it may have had another purpose. Still you got it correct when you said funky.

Drove my COE for the first time this weekend. Still needs more braces on the deck, but you get the idea.

  7. Very nice. Are you running a front transaxel or is there a 16' drive shaft under there?

There is no ramp setup. Drop on the ground, load, raise up, and go! Its all theory at this point, will let you know how it works out. SEEMS like it will work.LOL
Has 4 18 wheeler bags in back, and 2600 bags in front. All axles have their own controller.

Awesome! That rear overhang looks REALLY long! Hope those bags lift a LOT!

Hey Hdman , first thing that came to my mind was the song , give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around :)
All jokes aside , you have one sharp looking COE . You must have a ton of work , money and time into it . Keep up the good work

Thanks for the compliments. And yes there is a fair amount of all three in it. If I wasn't addicted to this stuff it would bother me.

Looks good. The only thing I would worry about would be the length of the overhang and the possibility of getting hung up. But I also don't know how far you can raise it either.

  16. Wow, the rake in the bed height is so subtle I missed it the first time I looked at the pics of the truck. Very nice in deed! I think we'd all like some more pictures if you haven't already started a thread.

The closest axle to the cab is the drive axle. Both rear axles can be raised and lowered independently to compensate for load, terrain, etc.

OK so you can avoid getting stuck with the drive axle off the ground with it set up that way. Nicely done and may I add a clever way to solve an old problem.

Rods & Relic got the answer he was looking for as well. :D

I have seen some set up with the rear axle as drive and a split Alko type independent suspension in front. I also got to see one recently that had two nine inch diffs set up like that in a dual drive rear axle. Would have been a lot of work to set up but looked very impressive.

I've seen those setups too. You've got to REALLY want two drive axles to go through that much work!

  25. 1st real post here! I'm building a 47 Autocar COE with tandem rear axles. My rear rear axle is driven, front rear has a yoke so drive shaft can p*** through. (pusher axle in trucker language)

I was in a junk/antique shop north of Conway Arkansas yesterday and saw a 40/41 Ford grille for sale. It looked good and I think was $250
