  1. After lurking and trying to get on here for several years, I'm here! I've been playing with things mechanical since I can first remember, and cars since about 14. I've done a bunch of different things for a living, but have been a machinist for the last thirty some years. Been educated as a machinist and welder so I have some metallurgical knowledge that may be helpful to others on this forum.
I am now in forced retirement due to some health issues, but I do get to spend some quality time in the garage working on my project, a 1947 Autocar COE. (for those that care, Autocar is the oldest truck manufacturer in the U.S.) I'm not sure that it is a traditional ride so I won't try to shove it down any ones throat.

Welcome. I had a chance to ride in a 1910 Autocar, it was very fun.

Welcome from West Salem, Steve. It may not be traditional, but I would still like to see pics. Mind sharing?

I spent several winters in Chippewa Falls, WI...based upon that, you will have 48 days of summer to work on your Autocar before the snow flies again! HA! So get at it already! Looking forward to more pictures of your project.

    Welcome from CT!

  13. I haven't had to shovel for several weeks now, but we are expecting frost tonight! There goes our apple crop for this year!

  14. No, its 45 days to cut fire wood to heat the garage next winter and 3 days at Back to the Fifties in June.
For those who want pictures, a confuser crash took most of my pictures of the trip to Connecticut to get it home so I've only got a couple. I only brought the cab and fenders home, had no use for a heavy duty truck ch***is and fuel delivery body.
the pencil drawing is basically what I plan to end up with. some of the specs are:
    Dana 60 front axle
Dana 80 rear rear drive axle
Dana 70 front rear converted to air lift pusher axle
Allison 2400 6 speed auto trans
1980 Detroit 6v53 2 cycle turbo diesel 225 HP @ 2800RPMs (for those unfamiliar, this is a civilian version of the engine in a 113 armored personnel carrier

  17. I have a bus, want to convert to a travel trailer/toy hauler, then full-time for a few years before I get too old.

  21. I take that as a compliment!
    I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't gamble, I don't chase women, I'd probably explode if I didn't do something crazy!:D

That bus came from Independence, MO and judging by the size of the skins in it, you've got some rather large snakes in your country. Glad I didn't meet face to face with it, I would have ****ped myself for sure. LOL

Snakes...what snakes? Only snakes in my yard are black snakes, garter snakes, oh and a few copperheads. Missourians are tough folks, we just teach them copperheads to play fetch.

It was the KKOA car show.. I was there for a bit yesterday. I like your rig man. Welcome from Marshfield!

  26. I used to go the the Spud City Nationals when they held it down in Plover, then it died out for a while, (club politics?) then came back run by an outfit from Memphis.(?) Lots of southern cars showed up, (by the truckload) won all the trophies that the locals paid for through gate fees, now the past few years the KKOA is running it and I live 25 miles away and didn't even hear about it locally.
I went to Wisconsin Dells last Saturday, way to heavy on muscle cars for me.
What does the Marshfield area have going for it?
