No arguments there! Not only is she pretty, she's dressed like a (GASP!) girl!
I'm old enough to admit that I really miss seeing young ladies dress like young ladies.
Nowdays, it seems like girls go out of their way to make themselves as unattractive as possible. Especially with piercings and tats. Disgusting, IMO.
You just hit upon one of the reasons that I really like this forum.

What's the deal here? Did Helm's make home deliveries of baked goods, like the milk companies did?
Until I came here, I'd never seen home delivery of bread. Where was Helm's out of? I sure never saw them or anything like them here in Oklahoma City.
I love old images like this that shows a completely way of living than what we have today. I honestly think that I would have preferred then to now.
Oh yeah, I'll bet that the bread was better then than what we buy today.

Helms Bakery and the Helms Man were a big part of Los Angeles history. IIRC, he delivered to our house twice a week in the '50's and '60's. Great stuff.

    Here is more about it:

With regard to home bakery delivery, I can remember visiting my aunt and uncle in Cincinnati in around 1949 and they had a bakery delivery truck that came to the house.

  10. Yes, we lived in Cincinnati in 1957, and we had a young man deliver fresh
bakery goods about twice a week. He was I think about 18 yrs old and had a brand new '57 Ford panel van. I remember seeing the tail lights on that truck and thinking how I really liked them.
Tony went on to owning several businesses, and I have known him since then, in 1957, when I was 8 yrs. old.

Thanks for the info, Jim. I appreciate it. I only remember milk delivery, and a couple of grocery stores delivered but that ended in the early 1960's. There were pharmacies that delivered well into the 1970's I know about them because I worked for a delivery service that served several pharmacies. But now? I doubt it very much.
Now it seems that the only places that deliver are pizza and Chinese restaurants, and of course Jimmie John's Gourmet Sandwiches. ;)
Hell, you can't even get a paper delivered to your door any more!

I miss the old days. They really were 'good'!

  12. There is at least one big outfit that delivers. Schwans food products. Top notch products and service. I was pondering why the home delivery thing has all but died off and I guess it may be because there are so many households where there is no one home during the day and just about everyone can get to the stores easily. Here's a little story about a sales call of an Electrolux vacuum salesman; One morning when I was about 6 yrs old I was still in bed asleep and I had a vivid dream based on the WWII buzz bombs. Several went over my little town but I didn't hear any explosions. Finally I woke up and trotted out to the living room and there was a man with his vacuums going over his sales pitch for my mom. That was over sixty years ago. :D:D:D

Its actually an Australian built Royal Australian Air Force, GAF (Government Aircraft Factory) MK20/21 Canberra bomber. I can't recall the Sqn that this one is from or the date but it is reputedly taken at (Over) the RAAF Base at Vung Tau SVN.

    Hey rent a trip
That's a great photo, a great looking ride.
Hard when your old man passes on. Lost my dad this year though he is in a much better place.
Would be awesome to build a tribute.
