Well guys and gals. I have been here a memeber for a couple years now. I havent posted much bust been reading and takeing in as much info as i can. So my whole era i want to stick with is mid to late 60's drag car. I started with a 29 A coupe. i have done a little bit of work so far and someone convinced me to do a build thread. This is what i started with. My $2400 body.
So it needed a haircut. My dad cutting away. Most people will say thats way to much out of it or this and that. but like i said i am going for a 60's era drag car and thats how much i wanted to take out.
How much did you chop it ? You know everybody says you chopped it to much, hope your short, or your necks going to hurt,I say chop it to the max, every 30-34 coupe that's done right with a heavy chop sells as fast as any other car and maybe faster.
Well everyone wanted more info. I ended up takeing 8 1/2 inches out of the roof. I will be puting a traditonal cage in it, but yet i want it to be up to date so i can run it and be safe. The power plant it a 425 olds. flat top pistons. Lots of head work and should make around 500hp. (dont mind my 4x4 intake. i am going to fab a log intake later on) Another shot of the motor. Behind that is a muncie with a Hurst Ram Rod shifter. (fun)
Well i am 23. and im only 5' 6''. so i hope i dont grow anymore. and still being kind of young i can sit crouched down for a few min.
Looks wicked. I'm kinda doing the same thing. Kirkey alum racing seats will sit flat on the floor. No sore necks except for the rubber necks as you roll past!
So I hate to jump ahead, but what are you gonna run for power....?I am really hoping you say Nailhead or Olds or Pontiac or something really big and torquey....And didmI mention that chop looks absolutely eViL....? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Didnt do much to the coupe today but i did search craislist and find some rims for the rear. They dont have a name just a part number so i have to do some research on them. but $40 couldnt pass them up. Front rims. I did get the front end bolted together.
Looks really good! I chopped mine 5 3/4" and everyone told me it was to much. Now its done and its a different story!
So have you had a chance to do any more work on the car lately....?Dying to see some more on this build....! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
ok so i have been busy with my ot project but i did do a few things to the coupe. i made a kick up for the back and kicked the front up 3 inches. i have a little over 6 inches of ground clearance. working on the kick up and rear cross member. front kicked up 3 inches. and made my own drop cross member. more to come very soon.
