Pertronix. I have installed over 100. One failure, and that was on an Ignitor I, and it way MY FAULT, for leaving the key on (only a problem on the Ignitor I).

    Pfft!

I just bought a second Pertronix and keep it behind the seat in my F100, - smaller and cleaner and easier to fit than another distributor...:D

I also like the accel units. I have had one in my sbc for about 8 years now. Instead of carrying a spare points set up. I just carry a spare Accel kit, but I haven't needed it yet. Im sure they are all pretty good as long as they are installed correctly and coupled up with the right resistance and coil. I Had Jim (Bubba) do me a HEI for a flatty once that used the GM HEI module that was mounted remotely on a cool little heat sink. It worked great and spares are available about anywhere.

No special plugs required. Copper is fine.

That my friend is the smart money here. I plan on installing a pertronix in my Buick. Others say to have a set of points in the glove box. Heck with that, have another Pertronix at the ready.

    I like your thinking!

I'm in the Pertronix club....I have run one in my 72 Ford since around 1985, and it's still kicking. I'm sure there's other good ones out there as well.
