A bump for "endlessearth" so he can find this thread. Being a new C10 owner he'll need it!

because you don't want to cut, or because you want a functional bed? if you search the thread for my name you should find a pic of my truck. no notch, but i zeed the frame 2 or 3 inches, and raised the bed floor two inches, combined with relatively short tires, it sits pretty low but still hauls a load with a functional flat bed floor.

It's a little bit of both. Don't really care to cut but need a functional bed to some extent.

I did my first upgrade today. I went with the "add a dog" kit. It was a simple install. Drop tailgate and whistle loudly once. The dog does the rest. Truck rides better already. Best results are noticed above 40mph and the ears start flapping.

My 1965 C20. Survived being a ranch truck and hasn't retired yet. Got a 327 from a 66 Impala and a SM420. Stumps (and my fuel budget) shudder at my 4.56 gears.

Current plans are to keep it alive for as long as possible, fix it as I go. Next project is fixing the bent tailgate and putting it back on.

Got the truck lettered yesterday by Mark Brodie. I got his name from the forum. Local Phoenix guy. World class job at bargain price.

Check with Classic Performance Products...they sell dropped springs, etc., for these trucks. I did a 3" front spring, 5" rear spring, 2 1/2" dropped spindle and power disc brake conversion from them on a '63 Short Fleet and drove the DOG SNOT out of it for years. GREAT components, and worked really well together.

Also, it does depend on the year of the truck. '63 was the first year getting away from the torsion bar front end, and if I remember correctly, not much in the way of aftermarket support for prior years (as far as the front suspension goes, anyway...).

I got a 5 1/2 front and 6 inch rear static dropped 62 C10 SWB and I just finished setting it up for a rear tank but with 9 or so inches of ground clearance I just thought I'd bounce it off you guys before I seal the deal and proceed with the finish work - otherwise I can just stay with tank in the cab if you think it may be an issue.

If you think clearance will be an issue, weld on a light piece of diamond plate before you fill it with gas.

You have 9" of clearance with out a bed or cab on, and an empty tank? It's going to drop a lot more once you have everything on it.
