Features Falcons done right?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by guiseart, Nov 20, 2005.

  1. Like most ideas, this one has been done. Check out page 8 of this thread, second post on the page. It does look good on 60-61 models.

  4. Here you go , They are usually referred to as Venetian Blinds

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FALCON-M...=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a796250f4

The one listed is for a sedan , they stock these for a lot of early cars and pickups so I'm sure if you contact them they will have a coupe one . The Aussie XM-XP Coupes use same rear window as your Futura . The car in the photo is an Aussie XM Futura Coupe .

My Falcon got new (old) shoes!!!

They are 15x6 and 14x6, 60's Cragar GT wheels. I had to restore them and after a tip from this site, I used Easy-Off oven cleaner for 20 minutes to get the correct patina on the bare spokes. Then, I mounted them on the back of my car (one at a time) while on jack stands. With the engine running and in drive, I slowly polished the lips with different grades of sandpaper.

I already said this once on TFFN, but those mags look awesome. You have great choices for rolling stock.

Thanks Bigcheese327, I appreciate it. It took me quite awhile to find a set of vintage wheels that fit.

Are you going to the Nationals in Tulsa?

Sadly, no. My FCA membership lapsed after I didn't make it to Dearborn in my own back yard. Take pictures for me!

  10. That rag top looks gorgeous with new shoes! Period correct , finishes it well.

I posted about this car a while back - Just about to start driving it as soon as I can get it to idle properly:confused:

All other details required to drive have been sorted out well enough.

I am thinking about switching the wheels out to a set of painted steelies - widened in the back, possibly painted black? Not sure yet.

Steelies in body color (aged to match to faded paint), or even black would look great on that car! Can you run a stock hood or would it have clearence issues?

That would be one hell of a sleeper!

It could clear a stock hood with some mild work but I now have a fiberglass one with a molded in eliminator scoop.

The steelies would definitely help with the sleeper angle...all except for the sound of the FE coming out of the flowmasters....

...and there is a problem with that......how? :D

I like the look of that scoop, but a stock hood would be pretty killer as well. Who made that hood? Looking into 'glass hood, deck lid and front fenders for my '65 sedan.

The hood was made locally off of a stock steel hood. From the back you can see how the scoop was built in rather than just grafted on top.

Nice looking hood! I plan on duplicating the '66 Comet Cyclone twin scoops into my hood that will serve as functional ram induction for my Paxton Supercharged 289.

You can buy a hood just like that from Crites now ($360)

This is actually the AF/X style and I did consider those originally, as well as the eliminator scoop style...but it was just too much scoop for my build.

This is a '66-'67 Comet Cyclone hood seen here on a '65 comet.

Mine will have an air box on the inside to direct flow into the Paxton.

  21. 2 door S-22 is not too easy of a car to come by, especially a solid one.
Comets in general are getting hard to come by, that aren't rusted out.
I restored one just like that and it was amazing the attention it got at shows/events.
Not digging it, but that's just me.

Great stance! Steelies, or some older style mag would really make the car look even better!

Got the MII buckets back from upholstery today for my '63! Had them covered to match the Taurus donor backseat I got at pick n pull! Also had the headrests deleted to better fit the era of the '63.

Switching the wheels out is a huge leap in the right direction but I would stay away from black wheels unless you are using whitewall tires (and you obviously wont be doing that on that car). The all black look looks strange from more than a few feet away, you cant tell where the wheel ends and the tire begins, it ends up looking weird. See what I mean?

I actually kind of like the black wheel / black tire look; but Wimbledon White wheels would look very tough (competition oriented) and more intentional.

I'm rather partial to this color combo. :)
The 60 series tires are still growing on me though.
