Both my Mother and Father worked at that plant just after the war started - Both worked on C-47's my Mother as an assembler (Of everthing) and my Father was an Inspector - I found his Stamp on a C-47 landing gear x member in 1968 while working on Goonies at England AFB LA
When the war started my father had tried to enlist but was too old, 26, so the family, minus me, moved to Buffalo to go to work in a War Plant. - In late 43 may Dad was drafted and was sent to the Combat Engineers because of his expierence working in the coal mines in Central PA; ie he could operate machinery and blow stuff up. - His unit was trained for the invasion of Japan and were embarked off the coast of California when Japan surrendered. His unit did end up in Japan as Occupation Forces charged with clearing coastal defenses. - Had he had to go ashore as the invasion force there is a 80 some % chance that I wouldn't be here as they were supposed to clear the beaches for the main landing forces.

This image brings back memories of "bulk oil". By the time I started working at service stations, all our virgin oil was in cans, but we did sell reprocessed oil (green before it was in vogue) that we dispensed out of a bulk tank into glass bottles. We only had a dozen bottles and kept them inside, so you had to ask. As I remember it was about half the price of virgin oil. Also was a customer of this kind of oil as I car pooled to electronics class in a '60 Corvair 500 that leaked about a quart every 10 miles.
