WOW oven cleaner really works!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bruce Fischer, Jun 8, 2013.

  1. I heard something similar from my ex-wife. Not sure how she knew about it because she never cleaned the oven in all the time she lived with me.... She didn't go out to work either but she did managed to keep very busy. That's why she's my ex-wife.

While at the dollar store don't forget the toilet bushes, I usually spend $10 on a bunch of cans & a scrubbing toilet bush & the little hand held floor bush, ruba duba & a trip to the car warsh (wash- I'm from the south):D
If you're using it on a running engine (still in the car/truck) spray it on & drive the warsh to help heat the cleaner up.

The oven cleaner works faster when the piece is warm. Don't let it dry before cleaning off though it turns to a gooey mess.

Now that's funny right there. My old pickup is running a 10mpg and we are paying 4.00 gal here.

I have used the cheap stuff (Lemon Scent) to clean grungy aluminum intakes with good results. Spray it on let it work a few minutes and blast it off with pressure washer.

Would it be too harsh for white wall tires?

Be careful about breathing the fumes from that stuff, it is hard on the lungs and if used in a close space such as under the car to do the frame use a good respirator for chemicals. The same if using Castrol Super Clean brand cleaner and all of the Purple stuff as it also contains Sodium Hydroxide (lye).

had to remove some aluminum build-up from a cylinder wall after seizing a piston[lean]couldn't hone it out because it removes too much cyl. before it removes the aluminum.was told to get some muratic acid but couldn't find it in small amounts.used E-Z off oven cleaner, took a couple of applications but worked great[and, yes be careful, still have a couple of small scars where some got on my arm]
P.S. local snowmobile racers tell me it will remove build up from a spun bearing on a crankshaft

Any place that sells pool chemicals (even grocery stores) sells muriatic acid. Great for taking mill scale off hot rolled steel.

not trying to freak anyone out but, this is what can happen if Super Clean is used carelessly:

Neighbor cleaned his pickup truck, then that night my cat got caught in a trap in his back yard, neighbor then proceded to spray Super Clean on him. I didn't find "Frankie" 'till the next morning, in the trap under a tarp.
Anyway Super Clean used incorectly can mame !

Geezus man! I don't really want to see that. Take it up with the authorities. I'd have that fucker arrested. Who in the hell would do that?

Whew! Now, back to the subject at hand. I'll try to pretend I didn't see that.

Sorry to keep going off topic with this, but that is horrible. Why the hell did the asshole spray your cat with super clean? Could he not tell it was just a cat in his trap? Or is he just that much of an asshole.

To continue on topic, yes oven cleaner does many many jobs. Although I must say I didnt come up with using it on a motor for some reason. I keep buying "gunk" and its ok, but awful expensive. So I'll be sure to pick up a few extra cans of oven cleaner. I have some major degreasing to do!

I don't like cats but that neighbor needs to tied to your car and drug around the neighborhood for a few hours! Animal cruelty laws are in full effect nationwide!

Sent using the NEW Droid HAMB app from atop my toilet.

The oven cleaner works ok, but be careful, it will remove the polish of Aluminum fast. For Stubborn grease ,blocks, frames, etc, I use aircraft stripper in a can( for some reason it works better than with a brush). mix either with super clean, and it comes out bare metal.

To clean your white walls, use a brillo pad (steel wool with soap in it). I never use those sprays on my tires and they are always black with the raised letters nice and white.

I'd still be beatin that SOB with a stick. Good Lord, how is he when kids cut across his lawn. Call the pound (They'll get the ASPCA on him) and then hand him a Vet bill with your lawyer's card.

My buddy has white walls on his Harley, magic eraser cleans white walls easier than anything else out there.

Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

  25. I can only hope that neighbor didn't realize what he was doing. Did you show him? Can't imagine how much he suffered for all those hours. Hope the little guy is getting better and no eyesight loss.
Re. muratic acid: When you finish with it, get rid of the remainder. Once it's opened, even re-closing the container won't stop it from getting in the air. It will rust and corrode anything within your entire garage within 2 weeks...tools, any unpainted surfaces...even the edges of them. I found out the hard way.

I made that mistake....once. Little slivers of the Brillo pad embedded in the whitewalls. A few days later, my whitewalls had thousands of rust spots. Now I just use bleach. Takes the blood stains off too. :)

EZ off takes boot marks off chrome pipes also. Harley dealer mechanic for years and boot marks are a constant.

I used to use Easy Off, but now I use Super Clean in the purple jug. I got some on my arms and hands sand did't rinse it off right away, like i usually do. It was't as bad a Frankie the cat, but did burn holes in my skin in spots; I still have the scars, and it's been a few years now. I'm also not a cat person, but you better have turned in the B*ST*RD that did that to the cat. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I would have spayed his balls with super clean and see if he screams like a pussy, the mongrel bastard! Sorry about that but that just pisses me off.
As for the white walls, try some cheap engine degreaser a quick rub with a stiff brush and rinse off, they come up like new.
As for the oven cleaner. What will it do to powdercoated areas?

As a cat owner, that's mean! I'd call the SPCA on them, they're all volunteers and some of them are armed!

CSC is very caustic, it will suck the moisture right out of your hands if you don't wear dish-washing gloves. Also wear them when using oven cleaner.
