Can someone tell me if a 1941 Buick flathead 8 will bolt in to a 41 Pontiac or are the motor mounts going to be completely different. What else will have to be changed.

  2. Depending on which Buick eight it is, it may not even fit in the car. I'm certain the mounts are different, the entire chasssis is different, it's not like late model cars where they all used the same stuff.

Here is a picture of a 1941 Buick chassis and engine mount location, maybe it will help. This was a century with the big 320 cube straigtht 8.

The frames are probably similar so it it night not take too much work getting the Buick motor in the Pontiac but it wont be a direct bolt in,years ago I had a wrecked 53 olds and a 47 Pontiac with a tired straight 8 and it looked like I could put the Olds V8 in the Pontiac with not too much work but ended up trading the Olds motor for a dirt bike so I never got to see if it could be done easily.

Because if the OP is correct (flathead 8), he does not know which engines he has, so this whole conversation is worthless.

  8. Apples and oranges. And if you're going to go to all the trouble to change mounts, why bother with a tired old straight eight that can only rev to around 4 grand instead of a V8?

If I had a good running Buick straight 8 I would try to see if I could stick it in the Pontiac before buying another motor.
