Bucket seats, '60 Falcon, tall order.

The bench is shot, and yes, it could be rebuilt, but the girl (very not replaceable) wants a headrest, and something comfortable, with an adjustable angle. I kinda do too. It's a driver, and it needs to be comfortable, over a long-haul.

So, ***uming everything gets upholstered to match, is there a bucket seat set, high back, or with a headrest, and a reclining mechanism, that won't look so radically out of place in this car? I can add a headrest from another source, if need be.

I know, it's my ride, and I get to build it the way that I want, I'd like the look to flow, without a "one of these things is not like the other" moment, if possible.

Bonus points if they are something I can actually find, and are not $2-3K.

Over on rickwrench.com he used a pair of Ford Topaz or Tempo seats and they didn't look too bad...

Hmm, not too bad. Not big on the colors, but otherwise....

I'm running newer bucket seats out of a Sebring convertible in my Rambler American. I chose them because they have built in seat belts. My car is a hardtop and I didn't want to make any mounts for the seat belts.

Try a set out of a 1998-2002 Ford Crown Vic police car, they had front buckets which were about the same size as the factory Falcon buckets. They are very comfortable seats and if you find a set with power on the drivers side it's a one wire hookup.

Definitely take a trip to the boneyard. Any fabric you don't like can be recovered by any upholstery shop.

I used Fiero seats in my '62. But it had the console in it.

'66 or so T-Bird seats have a head rest that lifts up out of the backrest. I'm putting them in my '62 Falcon.

Just put 70's vintage MII buckets in my Falcon project, and they look great in there. They were a roll and pleat sort of look originally, but I swapped in a Taurus leather rear seat, so I replaced the torn upholstery to match the donor rear bench.

These also had headrests when I got them, but I had the upholsterer delete them when he recovered the buckets.

Try camaro buckets from the early 2000's... They are integral headrests reclining and a good size (not too bulky) for a falcon.

I'll get into trouble from Need Louvers for this. Sorry Chip but I don't hold my Falcon build to the high standards I do my T roadsters so I think I'll just put some comfortable modern bucket seats in my '62.

The red one I have mounted was given to me then I found these gray ones with perfect covers. When I can get back to work on the Falcon I think I'll install them and see how they look and feel.

80's mustang, t-bird etc. if you look around you can find the same general shape as the original seat but a higher back with removable headrest. and they're cheap.

Ha ha ha! Anything less than a "made of stone" stock bench seat and you ruined it!:D 'Course, these days now that the incredible miss Judy has been with me for ten years it is kinda appealing to keep her over on her side of the car...

Carrillos used in Honda Preludes and Toyota Celicas use to be popular. With air bladders, they were totally adjustable and very comfortable.

I was at O'Reilly auto parts the other day. They have New bucket seats. They actually looked decent. I think they were under $200 each. Many colors. Mike

I gave $30 for the MII buckets, and paid to have the foam repaired and recovered, but still under $200 a seat for them. The stock covering was pretty dried up, and began splitting at every seam during the build from just sitting in them.
Here's the stock pattern (sorry for the blurry pic):
