    Did you cut your rearend down yet? How wide did you end up WMS to WMS? I'm at the starting stages of a similar build with same blackboard frame.

    I did.. I had 6" taken out of it. I will measure tonight to see what the total width is. Actually kind of nervous, the body has not been back on it since I had it cut down. Not sure what I have yet. Took my measurements but, won't know for sure what I have until I get my body back on the chassis.

    ok... still waiting on the painter.. no shock there... these sob's will drive you to drink! I did get the first round of chromed parts back. Only two I need to send back for scratches etc.

    Little TECH tip... found out something about polishing metal that was new to me. Thought I would share, might be common knowledge...
    I was told by a friend that details show cars that the way he recommends polishing metal is to use sandpaper vs. wheel and polish. he found that the wheel and polish destorts the metal. So, I started with 800 grit and worked my way up to 2000 grit. He also recommended using WD-40 instead of water. His thought was is seemed to cut the metal better. At 2000 grit it basically polishes itself. I lightly rubbed White Diamond polish on it after I was done to help seal the metal. Worked incrediably well, you decide....

    You certainly need to make no excuses to anyone on this built, you have done a first rate job on it. It looks great and all the workmanship is very clean and neat.

    You need to change your title though from "My attempt at.." To "My success at........" You nailed it. :D

    little update and something unrelated that has me steaming mad and having a hard time getting over it.
    First I found out my problem with my attempts at painting. The compressor I have been using appearantly has a problem and air pressure has been my problem. The last paint job issue was sort of related more an issue of time and the amount that I thinned the paint but the compressor is my overall issue. Glad to have that mystery solved. Frame painted and very happy with it. Don't even think I will need to block and buff it.

    ok, my unrelated... last Monday I had a older man come to my house to give me an appraisal for a refi. This ass wipe had a tape measure on his right pant pocket and appearantly swiped against the '56 vette and left a scratch about 10 inches long on the driver's door. I did not notice this until Wednesday. When I called him he denied doing it and hung up on me. I have sanded and buffed for two days before I took the picture below. This is an older paint job so matching it with fresh bright clear is not going to look right. Just pist, more so because he didn't own up to doing it.

    ok... long time coming. There were some parts that were painted the wrong color I had to leave behind to correct but, all in all I am very happy with the workmanship and final product. Now for the final assembly!

    I have a request into my painter.. as soon as I hear back from him I will post it for you. It is non-metallic and I know it is an off brand not PPG or Dupont.

    I passed on opening this thread up because normally when the title says "Old Skool" the contents are not going to be pretty. Boy and I kicking myself in the ass!!! This thing is pretty damn cool!

    Now don't that look right purdy.

    Maybe add some maroon details to the firewall and wheels to tone down the white a little, if you are not sure.

    First thing I will say....
    Its to bad you we not born a hundred years ago, Henry Ford then could of hired you as an engineer and a designer and we would all be driving cool tudor's now!!

    I just read this whole post starting at page one and the way you have documented your build with the posts and pictures is really cool!
    You said this was your first attempt at an old school build and all I can say through reading it all, is you are way to hard on yourself because from your drawings all the way through your build the attention you have given this car has "WOW" written all over it! Actually posting that you made mistakes throughout the build and fixed or changed them along the way is something not everyone does I don't think?
    the direction you have taken this car from since you first got it is leaps and bounds and you have built something that will get attention and looks where ever it goes, and it won't be "WTF did he do that for" you have a great car and hope my first attempt is at least half as good as yours with the thought and look and attention to perfection you put into this build!!
    Not that any of the above of my two cents means diddley, but you have an interesting thread to read and a "bitchin tudor" to show for the work put in to it!!!!!
    Gives me the added drive to really think out the direction to take mine.......Thanks!

    Heck, I'll be happy if mine looks like yours when it was yellow on duece frame before chop on first page, perfect stance!!
