    power seat time,

picked up my seat today they made sure i got a full trim set and tossed in an extra seat switch. That was more so i can use a good harness off one of the switches and and the chrome plate was in better shape, makes up one good master switch. the power seat mechanism (transmission) all worked well (video loading), im excited to transfer it to my bench seat.
i just need to finish some side jobs so i can focus on that.

Well thus weekend i installed the new ( used), harness, re wired the ignition with a factory plug in harness. All seems to work great, except the dash lights. I'll trace that wire down next weekend. The engine fires right up. Now i can send radiator and gas tank to get cleaned out and my distributor out to GMC BUBBA @ Bubbas hotrod shop.

well i couldnt wait to fix my dash lights so i went ahead and figuered it out. 1230 am now and i should go back to bed now, gotta get up at 6 for work tomorrow.
But now instead of chassing down a wire this weekend i can put the wiring harness back in and instrument panel back in. .

i need to find a guy to service my radio and add an aux output.

Whew! Shounds like a great weekend. Kinda jealous here. I had to struggle to replace the swamp cooler. That sucked! My dash lights didn't work either until I found the "breaker relay" that had been disconnected from the light switch.

The radio idea sounds killer! When I was re-doing my 62 VW Beetle I sent the old Saphire I radio to be re-worked back to stock. That warm AM sounds was fun! Course there's crap-all for stations down here. I like your idea much better!

my car did not come with a padded dash option. i can go to the local salvage yard and look at one of them and if the pad is off i can take a picture for you , also i noticed in one of your pictures of her car, she is missing a piece of trim on the corner of the quater. i can see how much they want for it.

You'll need to clean the adhesive off, the entire dash is going to need to be painted and the speaker grill will need to be modified to sit flush with the top of the dash.

Sweet! You are getting ahead of me now! No worries - I'll get there. Love how that turned out BTW.

I would recomend re-painting tha needles if possible. I did that to a 63 VW I had a long time ago. I restored the entire speedo pod. Was well worth it in the end.

I need to figure out how to pull the needle off and if there is way i should leave the needle spring tension in place .
The chrome around the edge surround might not be save'able. I'm just doing other quick stuff till the weather cools then the greasy stuff time.

I love the old bulbs and the shoddy light they emit. Reminds me of when I was a kid riding in my grandpa's 64 chevy at night. We'd go out to my uncle's to feed the horse when he was gone and by the time we would leave and head back to grandpa's houseit would be after dark. This was before Tucson got too big - and it would be DARK out there - and those soft dash lights the only light save the old sealed beam headlights shining on the road.

*shrug* A bit nostalgic I guess

im changing up the dash since im repainting the silver insert. The chrome around the speed reading was cracking and you could see through it, so i sanded the chrome edge off and now when the dash lights up its going to glow just like the number.

rpride you made me rethink the l.e.d's im leaving the old school ones in. pics to come soon on how it turns out with out the chrome edging

    very nice!

My stock gauges were disconnected by Orig owner for some reason. I haven't gotten into the "Why" but its probably electrical related.
