Don't listen to these idiots with their fru-fru notions. The idea is to really get it clean. So, get yourself a can of Comet and a couple of green 3M pads and a bucket of water and go at it. Talk about patina on a barn find, it's the full tit treatment, no pun intended.

  6. Looked at the pics in your profile - that is a pretty damn nice-looking Buick! Screw the four-door haters, it's nice. Wash it and enjoy it.

I would clean it real good with sand paper then preserve the resulting patina with primer and paint.

Anybody here remember the story of the black lady cleaning out her elderly mom's attic and finds a dirty, dusty old lamp and decided to "clean it up" the day before she takes it to The Antiques Roadshow ?

The GOOD news: It's worth $80,000 (black woman goes crazy in that dramatic black woman kinda way...that I LOVE to watch...lol)

The BAD news: It would have been worth over $200,000 had you not cleaned all the patina off of it yesterday (black woman goes crazy in that dramatic black woman kinda way...that I LOVE to watch...lol)

Hook up a couple lawn sprinklers and let water soak the crap out of it an rinse the heavy stuff away.

Go back to the barn. Out behind will be a vintage barrel with the correct era water. Only then will the dirt be cleaned off correctly.

Dont wash it, just hit it with a buffer when u get it home, dust and all...Use a quality horrible freight buffer or a grinder with buffer end.. Use the edges and full throttle as much as possible as laying the pad flat and going slow does nothig..Good luck.
