A chapter in the book. "Convair B-36" by Myers Jacobsen, entitled, "The B-36 goes Hollywood" by James Farmer, Stewart was not rated to pilot the B-36. Nothing more than the B-29. In 1957, he was nominated for the rank of general simply because he starred in the 1955 movie about SAC (my favorite Air Force film). Research found he only put in 2 weeks of reserve duty in the 12 years after WW2, and only rated for the B-29. The B-52 mission over Vietnam, Stewart only went as an observer. He also was a passenger in a B-58 Hustler in the 60s. Sorry there is no B-36 photo in this post to reply to.

I whole heartedly agree Jimmy Stewart is an American Icon. But.. you guys quoting the entire photo documentary are killing me. If you want to add your 2 cents, pick a photo and right click, copy the url, click the yellow icon with the mountain and paste the url there. No need to include the whole thing.. Rant over, carry on.

327-365hp, it is for solely that reason I did an about face on single image posts (unless different angles of same shot). As many commenters lack common sense, alleviating that variable helps nip repetitive issue in bud.

Back to the subject, this is a 1951 photo of Hull-Dobbs Ford, on the corner of 26th St. and Hennepin Avenue S. in Minneapolis.

Way on back near the beginning of this thread there was a picture of two boys, about 6 yrs old standing on the curb. The boy on the right has the biggest, happiest grin I have ever seen. I'm hoping someone will be able to point to it for me.

 

I've mentioned it before, but I repeat it as a "late" Father's Day memorial to my Dad who died last year.

He was always proud that he was a propeller mechanic on Jimmy Stewart's airplanes while in WWII. I guess we can partially thank my Dad for Jimmy Stewart being able to make more movies after the war.

There is a Kickapoo and a Potawatomi reservation a few miles from Blue Rapids, so I figure that one of, or both of the tribes are represented here at a fair.
