Be careful about thinner ;) Many masters newer use thinner for first coat! Thinner can make LOT of problems! I do not use it too!

and Thats why the Correct color is "Violet" not blue... Violet will negate the yellow..

here this I how I test for a color that will negate the yellow. I took a bronze or brass Owl I Polishe it to a mirror look, then mix my violet tinted clear coat. now keep in mind the owl is alot more yellow than our spray on chrome silver. so the Violet has to be alot stronger for it...

Hi for all! Still testing lot of clear and top coats! Fighting with adhesion! There is loooot of problems and trust me, polyurethane clear coat/top coat is not the answer!

    1. Actually there is no good any of usually paint- acrylic, polyurethane, acrylic/urethane! All of them is bad for this thing!
    2. Yes, adhesion is better with blue fire!
    3. Ceramic clear coats is better for ON silver coating!
    4. Companies as cosmichrome, fantachrome is producing special paints! special top coat for silver! Adhesion is really good! Secret is in adhesion chemicals in top coat- as epoxy etc. This top coat is easy to wet even with weak sensitizer like from AG.
    5. For clear coats thats same special adhesion adds to it!

with usual clear and top coat this spray on chrome system is good for room use only! But with right paints it is durable as usual paint!

    dohh,,,,,,,its so so complicated!

is true that says sudzhis ... the issue of adherence is an important factor ... we must try many varnishes .. I have an excellent adhesion of the silver on the base coat, but poor adhesion of the topcoat

No, its working! But main question is quality of base/top coat and adhesion to silver for both sides!

Usual clear coat/top coat newer will work for spray on chrome! It will work but not stable, not trust-able, every time and BECAUSE so many companies sell clear/top coat for spray o chrome!

No. I dont have the same issue.. All I use is 2k Clear coat from Sherwin William an automotive grade Urethane clear coat..

check my "Flexible Chrome" testing.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FJCpt1vESA

the 2K Sherwin william clear coat has never fail on me, at least the adhesion to the silver. whats going to be an issue with adhesion is to plastic. where the entire basecoat will come off due to tha nature of plastics...BUT thats easily fixed with a adhesion promoter, this is ghe glue between the basecoat and the plastic.... I use Krylon fusion but I guess others will work too...

    I begg to differ.

2k Urethane/Polyurethat is the Only coating I use now..

the Coating is so effective that the plastic will crack first before the spray on chrome gives up on you..

I belive your issue is using Compressed Air(electrical) this will introduce foreign particles to the silvering process, even the smalles oil particles will produce lack of adhesion of the clear coat..

there are 3 types of issues with lack of adhesion and their respective resolutions..

    Issue 1.
lack of adhesion of the entire spray on chrome coatin to Plastic. where the spray on chrome comes off from the base coat(including primer).

solution: use a plastic adhesion promoter like Krylon fusion

    Issue 2.
Lack of Adhesion of the Silver layer to the shiny basecoat. where the clear coated silver comes off the shiny(highly gloss) black/white basecoat.

Solution: this issue is related to the "Chemical Adhesion" glue which in this case is the "Sensitizer" or Tin for silver... the solution is to make the sensitizer stronger or change the sensitizer because it no longer good.

    Issue 3.

lack of Adhdesion of the Clear coat to the Silver layer. where the clear coat comes off from the silver layer(mirror)

Solution: there are many possible reason for this, one of the reason is the air is contaminated and needs further flitration. this issue can be solved if one uses clean compressed air on a 2000lbs cylinder..

I had this issue in the past but I no longer do since using the hand sprayers...

No Nicamarvin, u dont understand me right!

Yes, it hold on plastc, on metal, but how strong!

Can u make adhesion test like this?

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K_ccg3qtrzU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    like this

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZY50tJzotq4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Yes, for me it holds on part good, but if u cant make the tests like on video u cant spray any car wheels or car outer parts or bike parts!
