Thanks Carl and Justin, Got the front body pins done today, Thought it would be a quick job,,So much for that idea:(, lots of grind and fit then try again,, being this started as a dragster and turned into a comp coupe,,,, finally got it to work right at the expense of a little bit of the lettering on the dragster cowel, I think it will take quite a bit for the body to come loose in the front:eek:, Another thing off the list of things to do:D,,,,, Tim Jones BTW After watching Buddy sleep all day, maybe the guys at work should have called this place the Lazy Dog Ranch:rolleyes:

4.56's are way too much gear for a flattie, don't forget he is not spinning 6 or 7 g's...........

Tim I'm running 3.42's on mine and am happy with it........

We lost FREEZE about 2 years ago. Came from world class stock but she was just a pet. Would like another one but just dont have the time anymore to give all the attention that breed needs.

Well" What a Revoltin Development This Is,,, My Slug motor is really one now:eek:, The other day my Brother was going to stop out so I thought I'd fire it up for him,, didn't take long for smoke AKA (Steam) to come out of the center pipe on the right side , so I retorqued the heads and try again, Hmm no quick fix here, So I pulled the head off, and found that one of the sleeves failed right at the top of the cylinder, not sure what caused it, other than being an old sleeve,, well either way need to fix this block or the other, but for right now money wise I'm at a stand still for a while:confused:, O Well that's racing, I think for now I'll put the blower setup on this motor while it's in the car and get the plumbing figured out, ,, Plus my 1947 ford cab for the ramp truck is showing up next week to keep me busy while selling stuff to keep this deal rolling along,, :DTim Jones

Tim, sorry about your luck on the flatty! I gotta say owning and driving a car like this is one heck of a good time! They are a hand full but damn fun! You have done an awesome job on the car and really nailed a period looking bitchen good old race car!

As for rear gears, mine since day one in 1958 has had 3.90's and only second and high from a early ford tranny. So I'd say your right on track with the 3.89's

Have fun with it! Maybe one day we will have the chance to race.

    Damn, Tim, that sucks!

A blower on the flattie, and a 47 on the ramp truck sounds cool, though!

Tim, this is my toy... Also its hamb debut... I'm now 21 and this car was my graduation present! It was restored this way to hang above a fellows bar on the wall... I built the engine, ford block, merc 4" crank, .125" punch with jahns pistons... I had to run the car again. I also had to have magnesium on it so I tracked down both the halibrand 4 hole rears, and the NOS americans for the front. Dad had the firestone slicks for the rear.

The fellow in the car is me. The fellow outside is the owner of the 49.5 coupe, a way old school local hot rodder. We took the car to one race and he brought his coupe out to shoot with us.

Not a problem Tim, Its been a labour of love keeping it the way it should be. I always have to convince myself not to use zip-ties because its easier haha!

I hope it adds a little bit of inspiration to your project.

you'll probally have to find a non santioned track or some little outlaw track to run if your car is one of the old style cars, I'm not worried about running mine every weekend tho did enough of that when I was younger , now just gonna have a good time, tho mine will pass tech at most tracks,,, What do you run? I'm with carl, fill the block and punch it, its already sleeved so its race car parts. Have fun and build a big one, bigger sleeves are the same price as the little ones.

As for the tracks, the only option is cacklefests but thats strictly static or push start stuff. If you want to run the cars look for outlaw tracks, or short acceleration type events, 60 footers, 100 footers etc.

Carl, my car, has all sorts of history on it since the mid to late 50's, none of that history is racing. The car was built by Scotty Fenn at chassis research, it was the sister/back-up car, for a team out of bakersfield ca. By the time it was needed, the chassis had become obsolete and the team sold off the bare chassis. The chassis was then traded and swap meeted all up and down the west coast.

I have put the car back as close as I had been told, however no one can recall a team name so I am at a dead head with the restoration. The chassis never got to see a racing surface until last year (2012) when I did a photoshoot and ran it at the nhra national open (against the blessings of the division director and division tech director) That was a lot of fun!

    Brant.
