Your bank can set up a temporary account. Then just transfer your funds from the temp account to your regular account.

Why are you uncomfortable with a bank transfer?

I think a bank wire transfer is fine. I received payment like that. In fact, it was from Australia. But it wasn't nearly the amount of $ you're taling about and I was dealing with a long-standing Hamb member.

Still...the process is the same. Open a separate bank account just for this purpose...with very little money in it. Tell your bank what you're doing. After the payment arrives, don't withdraw...just leave it for a minimum of 10 days...even longer...to make sure of no surprises. When you and the bank are satisfied that all is good, then you can withdraw...and ship the car.

Wire to your bank is bullet proof. His bank will send the money to your bank, there is a charge for receiving it. Cost me $70 here to send overseas, I think it's $20 to receive.

Bank to bank there is no risk of the phony cashier check or whatever, his bank in AU is sending real money & there's no "I got screwed, want my money back" possible.

Once it's in your acct it's yours. Ask your bank if they have an acct they use for transfers instead of giving your acct number.

Done this many times, not to worry.

You really need to talk to a bank officer and they can tell about the safety of a wire transfer, and whether it is necessary to wait or open another account. The bank is only involved in the process of transfering funds and the paperwork is left to you and the buyer. Get the facts, call the bank.

Pretty sure that if the wire transfer goes through you are good. Been doing it that way for years with no problem.

Although this is coming from Australia, their banking systems and ours are very similar. Telegraphic transfers (as they are called here) are done on "cleared funds" only. That is, cash or funds in an account that have been cleared through the systems ie cheques that have been processed and funds verified. Banks wont wire uncleared funds (they are not in the business of losing money!!) But I would contact your bank to check their procedures.

Bank transfer is fine , i sold a car to a hamber in sweden went perfectly fine with a bank transfer. You dont actually give them your acct number you set it up with the bank they give you special transfer numbers and routing numbers to give to the buyer. Payment gets sent to the bank and then the bank routes it to your acct.

Did a bank transfer for $1.1mil once, then again for $650K. It's truly the only way to do it, especially from AU.

No it wasn't all my money so stop that PM asking for a loan:eek:

Don't ask us, go talk to someone at the bank.

My bank said, "Regardless of anything, I was responsible for the $ if there's a glich." And a glich can be something not caused by the person you're dealing with. Thus, the recommended waiting period. Granted, your bank may have a different take on it. Just ask them, as the others said.

Money transfer is the safest way to do a long distance transaction. I have always opened a separate account just for the transfer then closed it. As other have said check with you bank they will set you the best way.

I have sold to Australia before but it was with a long term Hamb member and Importer of cars and rods. We did pay pal and everything went fine. This hamb member just joined 6-20-2013 and has no postings not even to introduce him self or transactions seems as he got on the Hamb to buy my car. I am flattered but sure would like to check him out. thanks jim
