  17. Back in the day, Austins were not a common site, but they sold quite a few. I remember our neigbors had a 4 door (Ford?) Consol with the semaphore signals. I thought they were very cool. :cool: The interior also had that English leather smell.
    British cars are really popular amoung collectors here on the west coast. What is really wierd is when you hear of MG's, Triumphs and Jaguars being exported back to the UK!

    Lots of Austins around on the mainland. My dad went through a few of them as go to work cars in the late fifty's/early sixties.
    I even had a Consol for a summer till I could save up enough to buy a better car when I was sixteen in'65.
    In '79 I had a Buick v-6 powered '48 Austin Dorset, the tudor model.
    I still remember the smell of the leather interior, that was a mint little car.
